I think everyone knew it was time to give up on the Bosh/Wade era. And Deng? Was Carrol Dawson running the team or something?
if bosh wasn't out for the season. the heat would be right up there to come out of the west with dragic
I believe for the next 5 years, the 76ers will have a better winning % than the Nets overall starting from next year.
based on what. the track record as of now is likely not, philly will still be right at the bottom next year.
Base on their current players quality, existing contracts, cap and future draft picks. That's the result of their front office.
and how long have they been sucking. barring a trade, they won't have a winning record any time soon, especially if you want to start with next year
I don't think it's fair to blame Morey on the Rockets' inability to get out of the first round. He's been the GM 8 seasons - 3 were rebuilding (while still maintaining a winning record), 3 were 1st round exits, 1 into the 2nd round, and 1 TBD. 07-08 - Lost 4-2 (McGrady playing injured, Rafer missed 2 1/2 games. Rookie Aaron Brooks and old Bobby Jackson took Rafer's place) 08-09 - 2nd Round (Lost Mutombo, Lost Yao, Chuck Hayes played Center) 09-10 - Rebuilding (winning season) 10-11 - Rebuilding (winning season) 11-12 - Rebuilding (winning season) 12-13 - Lost 4-2 (Harden, Asik, Lin) - 8 seed vs 1 seed. Realistically, there really wasnt a chance the Rockets would have won that series. 13-14 - Lost 4-2 (Harden, Howard) - Probably the only other year they realistically should have advanced past the 1st round aside from 08-09. In my opinion, that's not a bad track record. Of course we would all like to see more playoff success, but 3 of the last 6 seasons the Rockets were in REBUILD mode! This team right now is the 3rd seed in a loaded West, and Howard has only played in 32 games! Whether this team has a playmaking PG or not, Morey is smart enough to know he doesnt need to pay for a Toyota with a Mercedes price tag.
I think you're underestimating the respect for Jerry West in that ranking, he;s probably the most responsible for building the current roster.
He hit on durant, harden, westbrook, Ibaka, Jackson. Those are 5 guys will get 10+ million dollars. Maybe not RJ. What can he do if his owner is too cheap too pay his players.
Morey took a perennial 1st round exit team, then lost top-5 player in T-Mac, to the 2nd round. Then took a team that lost Yao and T-Mac to the 9th place. Then traded for perennial MVP candidate. Not being able prevent career-ending injuries to two stars is Morey's biggest fault.
Too true. If Yao doesn't go down in 08-09, we're more likely than not looking at our third championship, with or without T-Mac. It would be fun to see the shift in perception of Morey on this site if I could travel to that alternate universe. But instead it's, "Murray's first round exits lol," like he's the one out there playing. Morey is good at his job, and I'm thankful that he's the one making decisions, and not some of you idiots.
How lucky for Morey that he gets more likely than not championships counted on his resume rather than actual accomplishments. How many more likely than not playoff series wins does Les have in the last 20 years? Just curious.
