I now believe more that DMo was advised incorrectly by his agent on signing the NETs deal ahead of any written offer from the other team in the picture.

You see the Rockets want roti be able to trade or drop him this summer. We're probably willing to give him 4/40+ to get that guarantee date moved to July 15 where they have trade leverage to get him to agree to be dealt. Of course if Utah is really willing to give two years guaranteed then we're up a creek without a paddle trying to negotiate something that lets us off the hook in July.

    And so the worm turns.

Basically BJA smacked his own face by not considering the possibility of HOU matching the non-bonus part only?

    Compromise,

Give him the $6m in bonuses, if not more, and move the target waive date back to July 7th, like Year 3 and 4. That is would allow us to waive him during the Moratorium to clear cap space, if need be

I think that the waive date (or whatever you want to call it) might be locked in as part of Principal Terms, though. So, this renegotiation might require simultaneously rescinding the First Execution Right Notice (Rockets right for failure to show for physical) and signing a brand new contract ... while everyone is sitting at the table together with hands cuffed to the chairs, no doubt ... lulz

@BimaThug Do you know if moving that date is allowed, or is it part of Principal Terms

This is pretty hilarious. You can tell DMO and BJ had an "oh s#!t" moment when Morey matched the contract and realized it was 6 million short. Someone didn't double check the contract. The smugness in DMO's interview post Net's offer sheet looks pretty hilarious now. You can tell he thought he and BJ brokered the perfect deal.

If I understand it correctly, it was in the contract signed with NJ. When we announced that we were going to match, that just meant base salary (according to CBA rules) not the exact contract as it is written. We are not required to honor those incentives to fulfill our legal right to sign him.

How does Morey make BJ and the Nets his b****es with one signature?

Completely 180 degrees off. The ball is squarely in Morey's court here. He's been caught. Best thing he can do right now is waive the physical, which is what he should've already done.

100% BJ' s fault for accepting a deal strustructured like that. What an idiot. The whole "we know our rights" and trying to pin this on the Rockets makes him look pathetic.

I find that almost everyone that says "I know my rights" or a variant of that statement end up not really knowing their rights or what they are talking about in general.
