I am happy that the rumors are starting from the Lakers, than some other team can jump in and offer a better package than the Rockets can trade Chris Paul. Like the Bulls Otto Porter etc. Washington get Bradley Beal in a 3 way trade.

Chris Paul has value, but can the Rockets pay for some of his salary, if so yes he be traded.

"Rockets will look bad. No one will ever sign here again!"

Did the Raptors look bad trading DeRozan? Oh, they're in the NBA Finals. Raptors: Tell me how my ass tastes!
Did the Clippers look bad trading Griffin? Oh, they're in the mix for this summer's big free agent class.
(but but but but those guys aren't CP3! but but but but but those guys aren't the NBPA President!)

Who the f cares? Not like the Rockets or Morey or Harden are liked/loved anyways.

I really don't think so. Thinking about it now I would add Wiggins to Wall as contracts I wouldn't take back.

But other than that, any other contract(s) would be better suited for a package where we attached future first round picks and either Capela or Gordon to get a star back.

I think where we differ is you think losing Paul is us being back to square one i.e. we have one star and need more to come.

I think we're already there and with Paul will get even further from our goal of adding to that with each passing day.

I hope we do trade him, cannot get much better with an aging CP3 going forward.

This trade is objectively bad for every team involved.

Gotta give you props. It’s pretty hard to come up with a trade where literally nobody benefits.

Aside the fact that i still don't see this happen, i agree with Clutch that we are not getting better by just dumping Chris. But at the same time, if a serious offer comes and he's ok to be traded, i'd think about it, Chris is still an impactful player, but for me it's hard to ignore the fact that he hasn't played more than 60 games in the last 3 years, got injured two times in the playoffs, and that he clearly declined this season...he might be one injury away from being done too. Overall it's just hard for me to expect him to not get worse going forward, and if we're not getting another star this summer, what we have won't be enough to win anyway, we're not going to be as good as we were a year ago going forward.

I went on the NBA trade machine and put every player not named LeBron into the machine and tried to exchange CP for them. It wouldn't work for whatever that's worth.

Edit: You can trade basically everyone on the Suns' roster minus Booker and get them CP.

Edit Again: Mike Conley + Jevon Carter for CP works.

EA2: Wiggins + Covington for CP works.
EA3: Gordon Hayward for CP works

I've said in the past that it would be extremely unlikely that the Rockets would or could trade Paul. But, I do feel there is a small chance he could go to the Lakers. Here is why.

    1. Is the rift between Harden and Paul a real thing? If it's real then Morey could be looking to move Paul. We all saw what happened when the Harden and Howard relationship soured. If Harden wants Paul out, then Morey will probably try to move Paul.

    2. The Lakers are a complete cluster right now. It could be that acquiring CP3 is their best chance to pair another star player with LeBron.

    3. CP3 and LeBron are close friends. Both players are in the twilight of their careers, and they may want to go out playing on the same team.

It still seems unlikely Paul gets traded. But, I don't think it's impossible. If a trade is made, I don't see the Rockets getting much of anything of value in return.

I see the Lakers considering trading for Paul as a possible last option if all other options have failed.

We need to find a CASSELL to his Kenny Smith

more than we need to 'get rid of him'

The real question is: would we have won that title if Kenny Smith was the highest paid player on the team?

Personally, Im not sure how much I believe this line. I can't see Morey potentially letting the lakers determine the terms of a deal and especially can't see him not wanting some young talent in return.

I am curious why you think Paul will be better next year?? The decline this year was far from incremental. He fell off a cliff. I could see him sort of plateauing in his decline and playing about the same next year. But, I just don't see how he plays better given the massive and unexpected decline.

Butler would probably choke the **** out of harden for wasting the shot clock too damn much. I don’t see how everyone can blame the other players and be fine with the way we play in certain situations. CP3 was perfect for this team but this year you could clearly see he took a step back and I’m not talking about his play I’m talking about his interactions with harden. There is something about this guy that just hasn’t came out yet but will at some point. To me it’s seems harden can only play one way and that’s dribble dribble dribble step back or drive\ pass to a teammate with 3 seconds to shoot. The second unit was always the unit that would get us leads and that was with harden on the bench

Something that might, in my opinion, would be to add the kind of talent that would decrease the load on both Paul and Harden. Someone like Butler, perhaps. I wouldn't say Chris's play "fell off a cliff," either. More like he fell off a curb crossing the street. $40,000,000 falling on his face in the street with a big yellow bus headed his way.

It is the 40 mil X 3 years that makes it feel like a cliff.

I don't know. The other guy who plays point guard is pretty good.
