A true blessing in disguise that we didn't land him now that we have the Beard. Another injury riddled star would have been devastating.
Man lets see just how lucky we are to have gotten Harden instead of others we tried to get. Stoudemire was ours a couple years ago if we would OK trade without a physical. Great choice by Morey to not make a stupid decision just to get a star, as he hasn't been the same and is hurt again this year. Then there is Pau Gasol. He is still good not great, but he has lost a step or 2. Again lucky Stern pulled the trade off the table. Then we offered Marc Gasol a big RFA contract. He is a nice player but it looks like Asik is gonna be way better defensively. So we got lucky again. We tried to get Gordon to sign a offer sheet, he didn't and stayed with NO after they matched Phoenix. He is hurt again and is looking like he is gonna be injury prone his whole career. Then there is Howard and all the effort to trade for him. I was concerned that he had back surgery, but we still went full force to get him. Im sure he is gonna get his leaping ability back eventually, but last night he didn't have that much powerful life. Again, we got lucky on how it turned out. Then after all the misses we ended up with overall play and health wise the best out of all we went after. Best of all he's just 23 and ready to be the superstar we've longed for!
you could have Marc Gasol + Harden, right? i wasn't aware you even went after him. But Marc next to Harden would be awesome. Say what you will about Asik, but Marc Gasol overall is much better.
and Anthony Davis, tbh. it's still smarter than that aging crew which is kind of a poor man's version of current Phoenix.
And for the chance to tank instead of being mediocore. Difference between landing the #1 pick and continually drafting 14th.
