I certainly wouldn't expect Bono to be a Republican. My question had to do with the fact that he just doesn't seem like the kind of guy I see choosing to become an American citizen. I can see him spending a significant amount of time here and even being interested in what's going on politically (and, yes, I also see him being more in line with the Democrats), but not a US citizen. It makes sense for someone like Alex Trebek, but Bono seems more like a "citizen of the world" kind of person.

That billboard is good for American children how?

Either side should know that this is pornographic. Duh.

But it all changed after 9/11.

I guess I won't be watching Alias this year. :)

I can't believe Terry Semel gave $25,000 to the RNC. I'm sure that's a drop in the bucket for the former head of Warner Bros, but I guess I'm surprised he would be a Republican (or at least give that much money to Republicans. One doesn't have to be a Republican to give money to them).

Ron Rifkin gave 2 grand to Kerry, so it looks like both Sloane and Sydney are Dems. :)

On a tragic note, it appears that Mary Hart from Entertainment Tonight donated to the GOP. That sucks, since I really hate that woman. I was hoping she was a Dem.

Drew Carey and Clint Eastwood, among others, are libertarians.

And series creator J.J. Abrams gave $2K to Howard Dean.

Of course, if I quit watching every show that had a bunch of Democrats on it, there wouldn't be much left to watch.

I saw Larry David gave $50K to the DNC, along with $2K each to Dean, Gephart, Kerry and Edwards. That's a serious Democrat... But I'll still watch 'Curb'.

I've pretty much decided that I can appreciate people's music and acting without regard to their political affiliation, but when it comes to some who are such egregious blowhards (Al Franken comes to mind) that even I am unable to overlook it. If I wasn't able to overlook people's ridiculous views, I'd dislike Jack Black and Will Ferrell, hate DMB music, and not want to listen to the sweet sax of Joshua Redman.
That I can not do. Good entertainment is exactly that.

Yeah, I honestly can divorce the actor's political views from his or her entertainment value. For example, I probably couldn't disagree with Tim Robbins and Alec Baldwin more politically, but they are two actors whose work I often seek out and enjoy more often than not.

I really sort-of expect people in Hollywood to be Democrats. It's actually only surprising to me when I hear of someone who is not.

And while I will joke around about it, I don't particularly care what an entertainer's political persuasion is beyond it just feeding a curiousity.

It's no secret that Larry David is a Democrat. They've mentioned it repeatedly on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The reason it doesn't bug me with him though is that they have a lot of fun with his political views on the show. The affirmative action episode being a perfect example. I also dug the Season 4 episode where he and Cheryl tried to portray themselves as ultra right-wingers in order to be accepted into a country club.

Oh, and regarding his generosity to all the candidates, keep in mind that dude banked hundreds of millions of dollars from Seinfeld, so that's pocket change to him.

I know it's a drop in the bucket, but it's more than the average entertainer is apparently willing to give, many of whom have done quite well financially themselves, which is really what surprised me (that and the willingness to give the personal maximum to several candidates rather than picking one and backing him).
