    Well... it probably pays better than Director of Tourism in Cleveland, or Chief Yoga Instructor for Alaskan Fisheries, but the three jobs are remarkably similar.

    the suns turned him down as a head coach a few years ago. I think Turner did a good job on defense except that the last two season there wasnt really much he can do without a real shot blocker in the middle. I mean trying to construct a defense without one of the biggest components (intimidation in the middle) is really hard to do.

    Remember a few years ago when we had Yao and ron and shane we had a great defensive team and he was the man who helped come up with the plan that held LeBron to his only 0 assist game in his career.

    Turner is a good coach I just dont know how he will fit in phx with their allergies to defense.

    The Suns do have Gortat, so there's at least something to work with in terms of rim protection. Still, that team just has never been good on D, especially in recent seasons. Old habits can be very hard to change.

    the suns have a shot blocker but really outside of Hill and dudley they really dont have anyone else that even tries or wants to play defense. i dont expect it to get better magically it really depends on how much gentry allows and chances are he wont allow much we all saw what happened when the suns tried a slow down approach and focus on defense they didnt do as well because nash is much more efficient in an open court setting.

    either way i am sure Turner must be happy to be able to work with the dynamic defenseless duo of Nash and Brooks

    The question is was Turner a defensive back then? If I remember correctly Turner was Adelman's right hand man, if so his specialty is the R&R offense, not defense. Anyway, I think the problem on D is that the coaching staff never got Brooks, Scola and KM to buy into the defense. PHX has some good defensive potential but considering they couldn't get the players here to buy into defense I don't know if he can convince the PHX players to do so as well.
