I think it is a horrible policy decision if Obama backs Morsi.

    Like good old Kirchner?

And Mathloon, given that I think it's fairly apparent that the military has the backing of the people and is generally viewed as the least corrupt institution in Egypt, and has been fairly united in its anti-Morsi stance....what, precisely is your problem?

He's pretty much obligated to back whomever gets in, in order to protect the treaties the US has with Egypt and the Camp David Accords, etc. Best thing he can do is stay quiet and congratulate the winner.

The whole situation is pretty much a no win for the Obama Admin. As shown by this thread some people will blame them no matter who is in office or who is protesting.

OH NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO BLAME US SO LET'S KEEP BRIBING THE INSTITUTION THAT IS AT THE FOUNDATION OF THIS MESS.

Pathetic attempt to wash your hands of your responsibility. This is your foreign policy, and every 4 years you willingly agree to a pool of presidential candidates that will not change it. At least man up like Kojirou and admit you are fine or indifferent with doing this to Egyptians. From what you guys have described, you do have some level of control over your foreign policy and you could exercise it if you wanted to.

See what happened when Morsi trolled everyone by acting like he even thought about shredding the agreement which bribes their military. The Obama admin and your favorite media outlets quickly turned it into "Egyptians love fascists, and the fascists want to attack Israel". Yeah right. That agreement has to go in order for Egypt to retrieve its sovereignty.

Kirchner, like Chavez, is a fantastic example of how low the bar is for having someone more suitable than a US puppet.

I don't know how you came to the vague assumption that the military is the least corrupt institution in Egypt or that they are anti-Morsi. That's funny considering Sisi is Morsi and the Brotherhood's man lol. Not to mention his warm affection for the United States - what a coincidence that he is an extreme Islamist and loves the US government!

More importantly, it's about the type of corruption. The military has picked the President for a long time now in many ways. If not for the military, Mohammed Morsi would not be the President, and he might've even still been in jail right now.

    LOL!

Btw for some odd reason, that meme is the most popular one in Egypt, and most Egyptians don't even know it's Yao!!

I see it constantly on Egyptian television.

obama said the sides should talk i don't think he's taking a side.

we should remember that democracy in places like this is still a very new concept. they have to learn you have to deal with your choices while they are still in power

I hope the military will take care of this and will - without bloodshed - remove Mursi and restore order. Not only is the guy part of an Islamofascist, fanatic, sectarian gang, but also, he is completely incompetent.

Yep everything is America's fault. Mubarak get's thrown out it's America's fault, Morsi gets ELECTED it's America's fault. The military threatens to remove Morsi it's America's fault.

The Egyptians have no responsiblity at all for the state of their country they are just puppets of the US. You, a guy sitting in UAE have no responsibility for your region but instead expect people sitting in Texas to fix it for you.
