I agree. It's hard for a rookie WR to come in and be a legit starter. There were 9 WR taken in the first 2 rounds last year. Only 3 of them had better seasons than Walter. Considering we're likely to get only the 4th or 5th WR taken if we use our first rounder on one, it's iffy on whether they'll be able to give us more than Walter did, even as low as that bar may be.

Whatever they do, you know their going to bring in a vet before camp to at least compete for a job and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to bring back Walter on the cheap.

Rick Smith and David Dunn are meeting on Ed Reed right now. They've spoken each day. Neither side has budged.

Is there no hope for Lestar to step up now that he has a real shot at claiming the #2 WR spot?

I'd go as high as 5, but 7.2 is simply too much for 3 years.

I was pretty high on him this past year but he just never turned the corner, despite his opportunities. Maybe he just needs more time but it's going to be his 4th so it's pretty do or die

We don't know exactly what is going on. But if I were him, I would take 3 to play in San Fran as opposed to 4 in Houston. Cali and a SB favorite.

that's a very fair offer, for his season last year i would give him four million at max. howeva as stephen a smith once or a million times said, guaranteed is a negotiating chip. how much is guaranteed?

four mill would be my max, three guaranteed

Agreed. I am hoping that the absence of Walter gives him that extra push, though.

Right. If I thought Reed were the difference in this team going to a Super Bowl or not, I'd be all in.

    He's not.

I could make that argument about Reed about 7 years ago. I can't now.

if reed wants to be negotiating for the long run, i say don't change the price. did the best we could. It's time for schaub to restructure his deal.

I'm with you. But i also think we have to start drafting WRs anyway. I'd say the same thing about FS, even if we were able to sign Ed Reed. We simply have to add some talent and starter-capable WRs to the roster; not just to have a complementary WR to AJ, but also to plan for AJ inevitable decline and ultimate retirement. How many more years can we expect a healthy AJ, and a AJ that produced like he did last year? It's certainly not a guarantee going forward. And to not have a single startable WR on the roster behind AJ is something we simply have to deal with in my opinion. Schuab needs weapons in the passing game to be effective. He's not gonna win games with his feet like a RG3 or a Kapernick.

he was only targetted 12 times last year...kind of hard to have any real opinion at this point.

    although...25yds per reception ZOMG!!

Yep..you're absolutely right. I'm all for us drafting a WR. But for a team with a limited window, the answer to WR2 is not likely to be a rookie.
