I listen to his show when I'm in the car travelling back from court or heading to lunch... but he's extremely negative about everything. His default is to be negative.
He's a good change of pace from homer radio guys who grew up here, get an unbiased perspective. He's from the DC area, I believe.
His opinions are purposefully obtuse and inflammatory and his voice/inflection is stilted/phony and annoying as hell.
He becomes a bit too offended when people call in to disagree with him. Probably hurts to be wrong so often.
Don't like him. Very pointed opinions that I never agree with. But he talks Houston sports during lunchtime, so I still listen.
eh...who are the homer radio guys? i don't hear Lance Z or Matt J bet homerish about the Houston pro teams. they're fans...but they're clearly pretty objective...they're critical quite often. frankly, i've never heard gwinn be anything but critical. about things both done and undone.
It is like he's trying to be some ungodly amalgamation of Jim Rome and Colin Cowherd. For as annoying as he can sound, sometimes I'm flat-out amazed at the idiocy and faux-vitriol that is clearly so forced and manufactured. He really needs to tone it down about 18 notches.
He's the worst not because of his personality but because he doesn't know things and just makes it up. For example, he once said on his show that Drayton made his money in the oil industry.
Maybe I've gotten so used to everyone's schtick that I just want to hear someone different. Yeah Dylan is certainly negative, but that does incite dialogue at times, like this. Gee, I don't think you've made your point clear enough. He's getting his job done, which is people talking about his show.
BINGO...he is negative but if he had his facts straight then I could accept his point. To often the guy is just throwing stuff out of his ass and trying to back it up with even worse arguments.
I dont mind him. He's the charles barkley of radio. Always trying to be different and rub people the wrong way. Who here doesnt occasionally think of worst case scenerios. he just purposely gives different prespective, i dont think he actually believes in them much, he just wants to argue.
He is the Rush Limbaugh of local sports. (He knows he's pushing your buttons. He does it without any sincerity or conviction and only because it gets ratings. He has copied Rush's syntax and phrasing. And I detest both) As much as I would prefer to hear Tim Brando at that hour if I'm driving around town, the staticy signal is as annoying as Gwinn.
Charlie Palilo ftw. he calls out callers for being idiots and backs up his talk with stats and facts. i love it when he throws it back into their face and the caller changes the subject. plus, i seem to learn a new word everyday i listen to him. as for Gwinn, i argree that he sux. not a fan at all.
