[rQUOTEr]Miami Heat free agent Dwyane Wade is meeting with the Denver Nuggets’ hierarchy on Wednesday in New York, league sources told The Vertical. Wade has traveled to New York for meetings that will include Denver president Josh Kroenke, general manager Tim Connelly and coach Michael Malone, league sources said. Wade’s acrimonious discussions with the Heat have led him to taking the next step with interested teams, which could turn out to be a way for the 12-time All-Star to leverage a third guaranteed contract year out of Miami – or the beginning of the end of his 13-year, three-NBA-championship run with Miami. The Nuggets have been aggressive in pursuit of Wade, offering a two-year, approximately $52 million contract, sources said. The Chicago Bulls have maintained significant interest in Wade and may still decide to join the Nuggets in New York for a meeting with Wade, league sources said. The possibility of a guaranteed third-year on his contract has emerged as a priority for Wade in the marketplace, league sources told The Vertical. The Miami Heat have countered with a two-year, approximately $40 million offer, but Wade seems determined in his desire for a longer term contract, league sources said. In the end, this could all be a leverage push to make Miami pay him his market salary, but the Nuggets and Bulls have been willing to ride out the process with him, sources said. There’s some risk in Wade’s stance, because there could come a point in which Miami ownership and management balks, refuses to offer additional guaranteed years and challenges Wade to leave the franchise. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--dwyane-wade-to-meet-with-nuggets-in-new-york-033400467.html[/rQUOTEr]
Ramona Shelburne on Twitter: As Brian Windhorst said on the Jump today, why were Heat willing to ask Whiteside to take less and/or trade McRoberts for KD but not DWade ?
on le batard's show, jorge and izzy were talking about denver signing wade just to trade him to cleveland after december 15th as a way to get wade to cleveland.
HEAT have put him on the 'backburner' for years now. Not that he's some peasant making pennies but... Take a paycut for the Big 3 (OK, fine, they won a few championships) Take a paycut, we gotta pay Bosh Take a paycut, we gotta pay Dragic Take a paycut, we gotta pay Whiteside Oh, and we want to go free agent shopping. Sit here to side please. And Dwyane's saying, "Hey, what about me? Where's mine? When do I get mine?" ______________

Can say that Dwyane Wade has multiple meetings with teams scheduled for tomorrow. Because KD is better than Wade at this point? But yeah, I can see why Wade gets upset, especially given the history and all of Heat's rhetoric about how they take care of their stars.
i sort of can't blame wade for feeling that way. especially if he feels like the heat just go about their business and expect that trusty ol' dwyane wade will be there to take whatever paycut is necessary once they've done their shopping. but at the same time, it's kind of the decision everyone has to make when it comes to playing with one team their whole career, at least if they care about winning. paying old guys lots of money tends to not make it easy to win. you can get the kobe contract and win 20 games a year or you can get the duncan contract and win 55+. now you might get the duncan contract like dirk has and only win 45, but there's almost no chance you're getting the kobe contract and winning like duncan. if wade just thinks the heat owe him and he's supposed to be paid with no concern for winning, i can't tell him he's wrong. if the heat basically say "thanks for those paycuts, but now we'd like to pay you for what you are instead of make up for those paycuts," i might be mad, too. especially if you don't really think there's that much chance of building a contender, then the money becomes more important. but you better not sit there next season and wonder why we aren't putting a contender around you when you've got your 50 million.

Good for Denver. One way or another they have nothing to lose here. Wade is a great mentor and can help Mudiay and Harris and Murray. He also still is one of the best sgs in the league. They were LAST in attendance last season even worse than Philly. Create some buzz give him a big short term contract and help the culture and development of the young core. Plus Denver is tens of millions bellow the FLOOR and they are years before they have to pay Jokic, Nurkic ,Mudiay or Murray. They can afford it very easily.
