Can we not use Dwight Howard on offense?

Okay, when we got Dwight, I was expecting this:

    - Use him for defense and rebounds. Occasionally the alley oop.
    - Back him with Asik. Don't start Asik. Asik will play the same role when Dwight sits, which is defense and rebounds.
    - Start Terrance Jones at the 4.
    - Back up Jones with either Greg Smith or Garcia.

    - LET HARDEN, LIN, BEVERLY, GARCIA, CASSPI AND PARSONS DO THE SCORING!

    Doesn't this make sense?

Give it to him in the post, gets doubled, pass out. That's his job, but our shots aren't falling

He's the best center in the league. We signed him to a 90 million dollar contract and he was ignored in the second half despite shooting 8-14 from the field and the Clippers front court having foul trouble

Shaq was an equally bad free throw shooter but he got constant touches in the fourth quarter. More than Kobe actually. And even if Dwight isn't the same size as Shaq, neither are the centers that Dwight is competing against. He's the best center in the league and that's a fact.

So tell me, why did we pay 90 million for a guy we're treating like Tyson Chandler?

No it doesn't make sense. Incorporating Dwight in our offense has a massive impact on everybody else. Ignoring him on that end would be terrible

Dwight just doesn't mesh with the fast-paced attack identity of last season. I'm not saying he's performing poorly for us, he just doesn't fit. Aldridge/Asik would've been way better than Howard/whoever.

Feed the big dog and he'll guard the yard

As Shaq famously said. It's certainly true for players with an ego and Howard has a huge ego. If we want his mind in the game, we need to keep him active. It might not be fair to the rest of the team, but it's the truth. Otherwise, stick Asik in there instead to get the rebounds.

    Howard tonight against the Clippers:
    1st Q- 7 shot attempts
    2nd Q- 2 shot attempts
    3rd Q - 3 shot attempts
    4th Q- 2 shot attempts

Things were flowing very well to start the game. Alley oops, PnR passes and even post ups. Howard was posting up low often in the first half. Then we stopped passing him the ball. He didn't even try in the 4th quarter. We gotta keep him interested in the game, especially late in a close game where we need his defense.

Yup. I can't even blame Dwight if he gets frustrated. The team either doesn't know how to use him or just ignores him altogether. Shows how good he can be when he's essentially an afterthought after the first quarter and still put up great numbers tonight.

It's incredibly stupid to not utilize him on offense.

I'd rather feed Dwight than chuck 3's when we are struggling. Right now, we are chucking 3's and we are losing.

Repped. This is spot on. We went away from what was working, either passing it to him off of P&R's or feeding him on post ups.

In the third when the wheels started to fall off, we weren't even looking for him. It's pathetic.

Tyson Chandler is also great at setting picks

We paid Dwight for a reason and either the coaching staff, the guards, or both just aren't using him correctly

not necessarily ! I have a very big golden retriever. I feed him well, but he never does the thing so called guarding the yard. He's friendly to everyone, even the bad guys.

Dwight doesn't want to PnR. No one but Harden can pass Dwight the ball in the post, but Harden does not always pass.

    THE END

Then why pay him 90 million? We already had a center that can play defense and grab rebounds

That's definitely not what Dwight signed up for. He told the Rockets he wanted to be more involved in the offense. He wanted to be "epic". The Rockets promised, but has yet to deliver.
