Also lets not forget that we have yet to hear about ONE close or semi close deal that could get done for the Mavs to move Shawn Marion and his 9 million dollar salary next season.

This is key, and seems to continue to get lost in the news surrounding Dwight's free agency.

How the hell are the Mavs going to find a taker for that huge salary with so few contending teams (with 9 million in available cap space) placing that high of value on Marion as their missing piece AND having the capspace to absorb 9 million dollars on their books.

Seems like an impossible feet to accomplish in my books. Much more difficult than moving Thomas Robinson (second year prospect) at 3.5 million.

Until I hear or see a deal that has Marion's salary on the move for certain, I dont give Dallas a punchers chance.

Yes, our situation is different, but Howard is still as indecisive as he was last season and the one before.
Remember when he should have left Orlando the first time? He stayed because of some misguided loyalty. The same could happen this time.

They could also reach Dwight room by moving Carter ($3 million) and either Crowder or Larkin. Nonetheless, I don't see how they're a viable option.

I never understood why Superstars even need agents. They're getting max contracts regardless and are highly sought after. It's not like they need help fighting for a roster spot or negotiating contracts.

Agents provide players with life planning.

They negotiate retirement and life planning.

Many good agents also negotiate retirement funds for players that are put into separate accounts/trust funds.

Trade kickers, etc... So much goes into a contract.

This is it right here, especially the endorsements part. Agents hunt really hard for endorsement deals because they make a higher % (4 vs. 25) than on contracts.

Basically, you could potentially represent yourself in court if you want to but somebody else could be a lot better than you at it and you would be wise to hire them.

I believe Ray Allen said once that he didn't have an agent. He would negotiate the contract and take it to a lawyer, to make sure everything in it was legit.

Cyberx, you mentioned the other day that rockets believe Howard will be a rocket. Do you still believe that? Has anything changed?
