There's a little more wiggle room with Smith because we'd be trading for him as opposed to signing him outright. That works in Morey's favor, assuming he is actually pursuing this to go with Dwight (which I doubt he is).

I don't really like Josh Smith on offense and if you have Howard you don't really need another dominant shot blocker inside.

I think Howard and Williams could do the pick and roll + Williams with Scola could do the pick and pop.

I also think that while Howard and Smith are good friends, it might not be enough to have him extend or resign. Having Williams sign for 4-5 years depending on S&T or a plain signing will probably have Howard sign on the dotted line after. The real challenge is convincing Williams that once you sign Howard will follow because the gamble is on Williams.

Both Howard and Williams want to compete for a championship and you may find that Williams could be a good, mature influence on Dwight, whereas Smith might just joke around all the time.

Certainly will be interesting what ends up happening.

I would be happy with either Howard with Williams or Howard with Smith...

... as long as whomever the Rockets get winds up happy playing there & wants to stay long term...

In case Smtih gets signed I'm already preparin for the outrageous "WHY DOES SMITH JSUT SHOOT 20 FOOTERS?!" or "WHY DOESN'T SMITH BANG INSIDE" threads. Seriously overrated by you guys. He's good on defense but a big liability on offense and kills the rythm.
