neither team has a bench, but we at least have 5 players to start the game lol. we have way more options for adding depth. and not just in quantity but in quality as well.

we have the NTMLE ($9.2M), they have the room exception ($4.4M).
we have the BAE ($3.7M), they have minimum contracts ($1.5M)
we have a QO for house that he may likely sign.
we can resign shumpert to $13M/1yr (to avoid BYC in trade) to create a trade piece for later.

in short we will add 4 more quality guys for a 9 man rotation. they will hope to land a half way decent PG for the room exception, some has-been ring chasers, and some midseason buyouts.

we each have an MVP candidate. they are way better with players 2, 3, 4. we will be way better with real contributors at spots 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. when lebron, wade, bosh and trash got together in Miami they didn't win in their first year because they were so shallow. it took another offseason to build depth and I predict the same with kawhi in LA this year.

lakers will field a team we can all break down real soon. that max slot will be huge once its filled. they won't have a shortage of chasers after those pieces fall in place

If the Lakers get Kawhi, then they just become the new GSW while the old GSW (w/o Durant) is still hanging around

The only fireworks this offseason are being shot by other teams

The only thing we can do is hope to sign Looney and maybe make an offer to Darius Miller, although his name isn’t even being mentioned. Honestly, Looney is a good defender against Harden since he’s able to move his feet well for s 6’10” guy. He we be a solid addition in case we trade Capela. Perhaps we unload EG later in the season before trade deadline.

There was a rumor floating around that the Bulls might be interested in Capela to facilitate a 3-way deal for Butler. If Butler signs with Miami I think we should still pursue a trade if we can sign Looney, and perhaps J Mcgee. The two players mentioned from the Bulls were Valentine and W Carter Jr. Who had a good roomie season. He’s 6’10” and has a decent outside shot. Much better offensive game than Capela. In fact, his rookie stats are much better than Capela’s.

The window is essentially closed and I’ve accepted it.
