Right now they're a near guaranteed top 3 seed. How much would they drop off if the Spurs win a ring this year and Duncan/Pop/Ginobli float off to wait for their HOF inductions? Tony Parker is obviously the best player on the team, but Duncan is still #2 and a star. Ginobli is inconsistent but a solid bench player for his limited minutes with flashes of his old self.

    5th-8th seed sound about right?

    Depends on the replacements obviously.

I truly believe Pop and his system is worth 10+ wins/year. Players like Leonard, George Hill, etc would be a lot different players without Pop in their ears to start their career.

They'll likely sink into the basement for a while. You don't just replace 2 superstars, a hall of fame coach and a former star/borderline superstar player in Gino.

Timmy is going to play until he's 50. And while he might only be playing 5 mins per game, his per 36 will still be the same as the rest of his career.

Pop and TD aren't retiring this year. Moot point.

Manu is probably gone unless he comes back for very cheap. He has nose-dived the last two years. His performances against the Warriors and Grizzlies were embarrassing. The activity and effort are there but he just can't hit shots.

If Kawhi Leonard takes 2-3 more FGAs/game next season and keeps the same efficiency, Spurs will try to make another run next year.

The Spurs will go full tank mode, and probably trade Parker to a team of his choice

I can see them going first to last in a year, that team knows how it works.

Everyone has been predicting the death of the Spurs for a decade. Until they suck, I wont predict that they suck. If you don't have respect for that organization by now, you don't know basketball.

It's not just TD, it's Pop that makes the Spurs who they are. If Popovich leaves expect the Spurs to drop off relevancy, unless they have an assistant who coaches exactly like him (doubtful).

pop can be as good as u guys think he is, but he dosent play. In the end, he just facilitates things, but its all about TD, TP and manu. They will transition decently, before hitting botton. We still dont know what kwahi leonard can do with more touches and 2 or 3 more years of development.

They will still be a playoff team if Pop is around. Once he's gone, it's all downhill.

An interesting question. They'd still have a top 5 point guard for several years, several good young guys and a bunch of cap space.

It depends on who they sign but I don't see them out of the playoffs while Parker is around his prime. More likely they'll stay around 50 games and compete for home court.

I thought that if they win the championship it would be cool for the big three and Pop to retire. They would then be one of the three worst teams in the league and have a good shot in the lottery for Wiggins or another franchise player plus cap space to have a playoff contender the year after.

I'd be upset if any of them retire this year, especially if they win the title. I'd love to see them defend it.

That's there MO. They'd keep Parker though and just sit him. Hell they might keep Duncan for 2015 and sit him for now too. Meanwhile McGrady plays 35mpg taking Dominque Wilkins old role for the Spurs.

If all Duncan and Manu retires/leaves, it sets San Antonio up to be a HUGE player in the FA market for the next couple of years. Granted I don't know who would want to go to San Antonio as a place to live but having the room to sign 2 max free agents is a good start.
