[Jim Carrey]: "What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me? One in a thousand?"

[Lauren Holly]: "Um, more like one in a million."

[Jim Carrey]: "So you're saying there's a chance!"

    Enough talk of the lottery!

It's gone completely unnoticed, but the Lakers have lost two games in a row. The Hornets have given up. The Jazz are 4-6 in their past 10 games, same as us.

Believe it or not, we're only 3 games behind the Lakers. We play them one more time. So assuming that we beat the Lakers in our head-to-head matchup, that's only TWO games we have to make up. In 15 games.

Yes, the 4-game losing streak stinks. But thanks to the meltdowns of every other team around us, it's not necessarily a death blow.

Assuming we can beat the Clippers, there's still a pulse.

There's still a pulse. There's still hope. If we can rip off a mini winning streak, you never know...

Yep, we're 4 games behind, but OP's point is still valid. We still have a slim chance.

Not if Wesley is injuried. Without Wesley, Rox perimeter defense is no good.

I don't think there is a chance. Not with the guys we've got on the floor right now. I really think Alston is a good point guard, but his best skill is passing and, aside from Yao, he's got nobody worth passing to. If we even had David friggin' Wesley healthy I'd say MAYBE there is a chance, but we don't. No, it's over.

hahaha. Seriously though, you did have a valid point before the Rockets choked yet another one away tonight. It also didn't help that the Lakers won. It seems we always get so close only to have something take it away from us i.e the back injury.

    We aren't making the playoffs.

    T-Mac shelved.

    Wesley with a broken rib.

Weird substitution patterns in games by JVG.

And we do need that lottery pick. Not enough that we need to deliberately miss the playoffs, but at least it's a silver lining.

The sad thing is, even if we make the playoffs, do we really belong? Our roster has more holes than my underwear. If T-Mac and Wesley are healthy, we'd be competitive. Anything less, and another first round bounce.

When your playoff hopes hinge on the health of David Wesley, things aren't looking good.

I really don't think we have to worry about that.

It's time for this team to officially go into 'Texans Mode'.

Really, it was a pretty scary thing, those last few games of the NFL season, watching the Texans have to come up with some SERIOUS miraculous play to lose when victory seemed assured.

Time now for the Rox to start approaching games the same way - try to win (allegedly) but still find miraculous ways to lose them in the end.

If we try really hard, we could get all the way back down into what, top 5 in the draft? Maybe even better? JJ, get used to the idea of playing next to TMac and Yao.

I'm all for this. And I propose taking it a step further.

Since my misguided OP last night, I've officially joined the "Savor Each Loss" camp. And as I mentioned in some other thread, I would love the team to come up with new, inventive, exciting ways to lose.

    Some ideas:

    Yao playing point
Van Gundy lacing them up as a player-coach
Shooting free throws soccer style (bouncing ball off forehead)
"Use the Force Night" where the Rockets play with blindfolds
Playing Ryan Bowens .... oh, wait...
Signing and playing Scottie Brooks for a long overdue farewell tour
    Drinking slurpees during game-action
Only putting 4 men on the floor, "Hoosiers" style
Putting Luther Head on Yao Ming's shoulders, piggyback style, to better block shots and dunk
Shooting wide-open 3 pointers..... oh, wait...
Giving Clutch the mascot some well-earned PT
Giving Clutch our webmaster some well-earned PT (although that might improve us)
Badiane! Fly him to the US, lace him up, and play him 48 minute a game.
Put those Chuck Norris jokes to the test: Literally play him for the remaining 15 games.
Hesitate before throwing entry passes, letting the defense easily collaopse on Yao... oh, wait...

    Any other ideas?

Having "throw back" nights the rest of the season, playing:

    Moses Malone
    Billy Paultz
    Rudy Tomjanovich
    Calvin Murphy
    Mike Dunleavy

Boy, I'm glad we didn't trade away our 1st round pick this year.

I think that lineup could win some games against "The 4 Brickmen and the Yaopocalypse"

You know the disconcerting thing, one of the objectives is to find out what this team is made of besides T-Mac and Yao. The answer so far has been not much, the guys haven't answered the bell despite all their talk about helping Yao, making shots and playing D. We are in need of a pretty substantial makeover this offseason.
