True. But let’s be honest if the Texans had offered an additional 3yrs and 36 mill he would still be a Texan.
Not when you consider Brown's principles and certainly not considering his tactics. I don't give the KKK credit for sticking to their principles, hard to tell the difference.
You don't think that Brown's principles/tactics and the KKK's principles/tactics differ just a tad in terms of seriousness and societal harm? If not then you have some things to figure out. Might as well be saying that speeding and murder are the same since they are both wrongdoings. Hard to tell the difference amirite?
Maybe. But he willingly sat at home losing money every day until they agreed to trade him. Most NFL players that sit out for contract reasons come in before they start losing game checks.
I'm tempted to post something so obscene that makes this thread gets locked and removed. I can't believe this garbage thread is still in the Texans sub.
Principles don't cause "societal harm", actions do. Furthermore, society accepts that the principles of the KKK as wrong but not those like Brown's despite that they are little different beyond the circumstances in which they exist. Hatred for other people based on skin color is what it is, and it's a core criticism that Brown spews. Brown feels personal resentment toward the owner because of his own racial prejudices, it's that simple, and I don't "give him credit" for it. His behavior is a disgrace. Furthermore, Brown's pay, to date, should have him set for life so any sacrifice of earnings does not come at the personal cost that it would for most of us. It's also the case that he held out as a ploy to get another big payday, perhaps one that he wouldn't deserve except for the team's desperate situation at his position. Despite what Brown says now, it was about the money and his hate for that "old white man" whose money should be his. Those who admire Brown need their perspective adjusted. Racism is not OK when black people exhibit it; the answer to racism is not more racism and I don't accept Brown's racism simply because he claims the owner is racist. The core of this issue was always racism...not McNair's but Brown's.
Looks like Duane Brown played his cards perfectly. He gets out of playing for a poor owner in mcnair and gets to play for a decent owner + got his money.
You don’t think the Texans woulda have been in that range? You don’t think duane wanted more a year ago?
There's no reason to think he did. He has said it wasn't all about the money. And even if you believe the "reports" over his words; all we heard was that he wanted his contract guaranteed. The contract he is getting now is more per year (9 mil vs 7 mil) than the contract he wanted guaranteed.
Happy for Brown in that he got to rip off one more NFL team on the way out of the league, and happier the cancer that is Duane Brown has nothing to do with the Texans.
Goodbye to the selfish and ignorant Duane Brown. Go chase your racism shadows elsewhere while we pursue a championship this year with a great team.
Not that it really matters anymore but remember that his goal to start was to guarantee some of the remaining money of his deal. Something he still never got while losing out just shy of $4M for sitting out. Looking at it another way, he essentially paid $4M for the Texans to tear up his contract.
