In terms of actual commentary and analysis, I think Clyde is terrible. However, I gotta say that his Drexlerisms have grown on me. This is the funniest thread I've seen in a while and it's thanks to Clyde.
Worrel: The Spurs are putting on a clinic..... Drexler: A clinic? Oh yeah, they have had some injuries.....
Rockets habiltually have turnovers late in the game. During Spurs game, Bill comments on the turnovers again. Clyde- "Very uncharacterstic of them." Those who will be taking SAT/GRE after listening to couple of seasons of Clyde's commentary will find it very hard to get into good schools. On side note, If you insist on litening to a Clyde commentary to increase your vocabulory score, listen to Walt "Clyde" Fraizer calling the Knicks game. Somewhat annoying personality but he pulls words out of @ss to fit them into basketball game. It's like he goes thru a thesaurus before a game and memorizes atleast 5 words which he must instill in the commentary somehow.
That Clyde is really the man. After Yao Ming pulled the chair on Eddy Curry last year, Clyde says something like: Yao Ming, tenacious as well as sagacious on defense. Here are some on my favourites: He’s a native of California, so he has some acting skills Electrifying, gravity defying, mesmerizing Rafer Alston Dancing and Prancing down the court TMAC attacking the rim with Agility and hostility Head with some Quintessential matador D More here: http://www.leaguelineup.com/information.asp?cmenuid=2&url=knicksteampage&sid=197634963
lol at this thread. he might be corny but i think hes funny. just whole hearted and always respectful. good man...good man
I just thought this thread could use some visuals... <img src="http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f113/wh3r3izcain/drexlerisms.jpg">
well maybe thats bc during the interview sura actually said something about making a return in a couple years...not sure if he was joking or not but maybe thats why clyde said it
i AM SURPRISE THIS TOOK THREE PAGES BEFORE SOMEONE MENTIONED IT, BECAUSE THIS WAS THE FIRST ONE THAT CAME TO MIND BESIDES "NOTHIN BUT NET (RATTLE, RATTLE, CLANG, RATTLE,... FALL IN) HIS "THIS IS WHAT I CALL (OR IS CALLED) TAKING IT TO THE HOOP WITH A VENGENCE!" "THIS IS WHAT I CALL RISING TO THE OCCASION!" "THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL _____" THIS IS WHAT I CALL PLEASE BE QUIET AND LET BILL PROVID ETHE COMMENTARY. I JUST DON'T THINK HE GIVES IT HIS ALL BECAUSE HE SEEMS LIKE HE DOESN'T EVEN PREPARE FOR THE GAME. THAT'S WHY HE RELIES SO HEAVILY ON THE CLICHES. HE DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE. HE BRINGS THE SAME STUFF..."NIGHT IN AND NIGHT OUT!"
Actually I think he's a decent commentator when he stays within his own comfort level and avoid the cliches. I was re-watching the Spurs game last night and he brought up some nice facts that complimented the situation and seemed to respond well to BW....for the most part. Its when he gets rowdied up (pun intended) that he gets weird and reptitive.
Drexler has a business degree from the University of Houston...and he helped Barkley to wisely invest his money. Hardly brainless.
hahahahaha, did anyone catch the portland game where after mike james hacked up another airball, clyde had the balls to say Clyde: And the best part about mike james' game is that he is one of the most UNSELFISH players in the LEAGUE Bill: Silence (what else could the poor old man do.) Someone save Bill because if i was clyde's partner, i might jump of a bridge one of these days instead of coming to work
