You said "is" instead of "was", so I thought you meant now and not back then.

STEIN_LINE_HQ Sources confirm Pistons in talks w/T-Mac. One source says Pistons "taking the weekend" to decide. @DraftExpress first to report DET interest

No matter who he joins he will leave the team for "personal reasons" before Christmas of this year and do a forced, can't admit he is washed up retirement.

I bet the "source close to the situation" is McGrady running his mouth a bit too early, counting his chickens before they hatch, thereby potentially jeopardizing this signing too.

Just like baseball's Designated Hitter. He's the designated scapegoat.

If this is true, then damn.

He tried to go contender hopping, and they denied him. I wonder why Boston was never mentioned. He'd be a solid backup guard for them, IMO. Plus, he's familiar with Doc.

Given the delusions of grandeur that t-mac still has about his ability to help a team win, this makes me wonder why he never had the introspection that could have helped him avoid this spectacular fall from a face of the NBA to pariah. The thing that I never got was why Van Gundy always would say things to pump t-mac up even when he needed to take some responsibility for the team's failures. For everyone else, Van Gundy never minced words, why did he treat t-mac with kid gloves? As a result, Van Gundy joins all the other enablers of a player who could have had a much better career but instead is sadly being forced to acknowledge that people no longer want his outsized self image to poison their lockerrooms.

If Detroit thought Plymouth reliants broke down often, they've seen nothing yet!

TMac getting snubbed by the NBA all the way down to the Pistons is pretty remarkable.

Even Shaq jumped on the Celtics wagon for a final championship run, but T-Mac? Well...McGrady is about to find himself on the Pistons where he will finish out a career and live out his reputation- a player full of potential to never see the 2nd round of the playoffs.

    Incredible.

Detroit? Come on t-mac... you can do better than that! I'm sorry if anyone is from detroit, but to have to play in Michigan during the November to Feb is prob as bad as it gets. I feel sorry for the man.

surprisingly, but this is a pretty good decision. Dumars is trying to move Hamilton and Prince and if T-Mac has something left and he'll show it - he'll get a chance to have a solid minutes or even startin' role. It's all on him right now, no more excuses.
