LOLLLLL at posting videos from TWO YEARS ago!! Linman is desperate in his mini Ty Lawson-Jeremy Lin psychological struggle. #thestruggleisreal Obviously any objective person would take current Lin for $2M over current Lawson for $12M. Unless you're a hater like Linmac for example.
The thing is, you could switch "Lawson" and "Harden" in your post and it would still make perfect sense. So the question becomes, are we better with Harden on ball or Lawson on ball? The answer has gotta be Harden. I agree that we're not using Lawson to his full potential, and that sucks. But it would suck 5x more if we weren't using Harden to his full potential.
He averaged 15 and 9 last season. Let's not pretend that Ty Lawson being a good PG was forever ago and a forgotten time. He didn't get injured, this wasn't his first DUI, there is nothing really different on Ty Lawsons own personal part for him to be playing so off. Its his mentality and our offensive system that is screweing him up right now. I would like to point out something that is utterly confusing. When Harden is out of the game, Ty Lawson is the main ball handler, Thornton, Ariza and Brewer handle the ball more then Ty does individually. Last night Thornton in specific was the dominant ball handler and Lawson was just standing in he corner spotting up. Why in the hell do that? Lawson is still the same player, the coaches need to help him by getting him the ball and trying pull the best out of him.
He has made Kenneth Faried's entire career. (Also, let's ask George Karl how helpful he can be in a winning situation)
I was really excited when we traded for Lawson, because I thought he would take some of the ball handling load off Harden. However, he isn't handling the ball even when Harden's out & I don't know who's responsible for that.
then took it all back last season. karl spent his last few years in denver complaining about how lawson didn't play the way he used to especially in the fourth quarter.
This situation reminds me of when JVG took over and Steve Francis was encouraged to change his game and play like a real PG. Looked totally out of sorts. He literally could not shoot a jumpshot without dribbling first. Lawson has looked terrible even without Harden on the floor. He has no confidence and is passing up open jumpers way too frequently, which is the worst thing you can do to an offense. He's also struggled at finishing around the basket.
This is the answer, to me, for now. If shots aren't falling, they're not falling. Except it and go get some easy points. And when you miss, it won't likely lead to a fast break for the other team. Turnovers on the perimeter are killing us.
no joke. If he's going to "click" with this team, it'll start with him being the primary ball handler with the 2nd unit ala Josh Smith. how is it that he's still not initiating the offense when harden's on the bench? those of you saying "ty lawson doesn't exist anymore" are jokes. the guy has been a good PG his entire career until he came here. it's asinine to look at these facts and conclude "ty lawson became a bad player over the course of one off season". Clearly it's a fit/confidence issue.
He has been on a steady decline for a few years FIRST and second if instead of accusing others of being jokes you had an idea of the analysis of the aging curve based on the NBA positions you would know that historically pgs who peak at an early age and rely on speed have very fast and steep declines. He's 28 so about that age. Still need more games to be able to make that assumption but it's a very real possibillity. If by the end of the ASW he is like that then it's a reality.
