I won't argue with anything you say above (except that I have a problem! lol), but the odds of the right combination of circumstances, system, coaching, teammates, etc. falling together that could have turned D-Mo into even a borderline All-Star are astronomically high. The dude had talent, some moves, a decent shot, a bit of agility, height, and determination -- but not a whole lot of any of them. His ceiling was NBA starter who might do really well if surrounded by better talent. And let's not forget the biggest strike against D-Mo: He had an imbecile for an agent.
True, even if he wasn't a borderline All Star, he could have averaged a solid 12 and 7 in the league, there is a market for that. Sad. Also he wasn't the most important piece for Daryl at that time.
YEAH BABY DD continues: Morey did a great job but he made a ton of mistakes too - including screwing up the DMo deal to where the NBA and the Rockets had to pay him and he went to China....when we matched the contract with New Jersey we could have matched the bonus structure too - making it a win win for everyone, but Morey and the Rox got Petty and created a problem that shouldn't have existed. Allowing this: To walk out the door for nothing.....and then made up bullshit about his back. Morey's rep is of a calculating ASSET only - non caring GM. Stone so far has navigated all the noise and has been completely up front with players like Wall - whom he handled masterfully..... Let's see how Stone handles a stacked roster of like skilled players and some who won't play ......that is his next challenge. DD lol
You'd think a sports agent that knows an NBA player's rights would have more clients: https://basketball.realgm.com/info/agent_clients/BJ-Armstrong/102 9 out of 13 players he works for don't even have an NBA contract.
Or at a bare minimum, it's not a bad day. Nobody loses their job and then goes home that day and says "I'm going to bump the DMo X-Factor thread".
