I remember distinctly how great D-Mo was offensively last season. But he was a shell of his former self this season and Detroit thought so little of his health that they rescinded that mid-season trade. Resigning him at 10-12 mil a year is a huge gamble.

How is it that hundreds of players can come back from injury only to get back to form within their first 5-10 games, but Dmo can't seem to? Dwight Howard played most of last season and last year's playoffs hurt. Yet you clowns want him gone.
Come on! Dmo is a grown man. Stop trying to explain away his mediocre play!

Please give me a list of these hundreds of players who had miss 9 months because of a back injury, yet came back and looked stronger than ever in just 5-10 games.

That is the ultimate winning argument to any discussion with coachbadlee. I have to hand it to him that he owns it and handles it well and doesn't pull a holic and switch usernames. When I think of favorite threads, that Jones thread is at least Top 5 most memorable - that's an accomplishment

I am thinking Coach is getting more rational and handles himself better than before as well.

    Kudos!

If we are throwing around stats based on small sample sizes, DMo also shot 44% from three :)

So the QO must be submitted before June 30, and DMo's cap hold it would of $5.7M? Is this right?

I loved how Donuts looked in the one game where he seemed to come alive. If only we could get that kind of production consistently from the 7 footer. Maybe we can, given an off-season and training camp to get in NBA shape. That, and Motiejunas on a reasonable contract.

Maybe we should make a thread for this

Now that we have seen Dmo play in the playoffs and his contract season, what would you guys feel comfortable bringing him back for? Would you even feel comfortable bringing Dmo's back - back?

Depending on how our free agency goes, I'd be fine wtih 6 mill 3 years, 8 mill 2 years, and 10 mill 1 year, and like 2 mill more on the multi year deals if the final year is a team option.

I don't think he'll want to come back honestly, but if he did, he'd likely get something in the neighborhood of 30 mil for 3 years. The only way it can be done is if the Rockets sign those they want to sign and then use DMo's Bird rights to go over the cap for him. It also requires him to work with them and not sign an offer sheet early in FA and force them to match or let him go. If I'm him, I sign an offer sheet early and find a better fit on a different team.

    We'll see what happens.

Pretty much this. Dmo will get better offers from Boston, Toronto and Miami if they have no concerns on his health. I think Dmo could take a discount because he loves the city but that's all the Rockets got going for them in regards to bringing him back.

What would $4.5M in the 2013 cap equate to in this coming cap? That is how much I would pay DMo

This. Dmo will not get too much more than that.

Why would you pay someon more overall for less playing time? I'm assuming you meant $6 mill/1 year, $8 mill/2 years, $10 mill/3 years.

I'd be happy with that from a Rockets perspective but assume he will make a bit more.

No. You've got it backwards bro, its a risk to sign a player to a large contract long term, so the longer the contract the less money you would feel comfortable garunteeing.

The shorter the contract, the more you can feel comfortable giving. I wouldn't mind a one year 10 mill deal, because if Dmo does bad we just let him walk. If Dmo plays bad or gets injured on a 3 year 10 mill per deal then we are screwed.

I don't think he understood that the amounts were PER YEAR and not total.

the rates you suggested are the rates that I would also like to keep him at. We will see how the market plays out. I doubt Morey will make an offer first.
