He has no doubts or fears about his back. First thing he did on court was take a charge and fall on his back. He was fastest 7 footer last year, now he does look much slower running the court. I understand why he looks so bad, when I returned to basketball from a year +1 break it was so fast that guys who were much worse than me started to look better, but it freaks me out nevertheless. I felt this way 2 years ago when DMo was at his worst. I can't help but think what if he never returns to what he was.
Exactly correct about the back injury part, so why are you so confident he will come back stronger/better than ever? There's no guarantee, no matter how perfect his mindset is.
Yes, but on the same token you need to give the guy time to get his conditioning and rhythm back. As anyone who's taken time off from the game knows, it takes weeks to months to get back to peak shape. It may be faster for pros but they also have a much higher bar to reach. Gotta take it slow with D Mo.
Yeah I was preaching this in the beginning of this thread... It will take him at least a year and a half to get back to where he was... But when you say things that people don't want to hear they label you as a hater.. T_Man
I suspect towards mid-January/Feb DMO should be back in rhythm on the court ballin har barring no setbacks...it's not humanely possible for DMO to miss 8-10 months of pro ball with no serious practice and to expect him to be playing spectacular right out the gate...gonna take time in my opinion
DMo is crawling back to the starting line up in about 2 weeks. He just brings so much more to the offensive end than any of our other bigs.
11 points on 4 shots in 16 minutes is a good sign. But more importantly than that, the passing, movement, and team play are all still there. He looks like a goof falling around though.
Showed some good defensive rotations, got a shot to fall, did some work in the post. He's getting there, give it another week or 2.
Teammates were giving him a lot of touches. Still had TOs due to slow reflexes. This game is a good confidence booster for him.
There was that beautiful behind the back pass to Thornton that was counted as turnover. Man, such a pity Thornton couldn't convert it...
He's kind of always done that though lol especially his rookie season and the beginning of his sophomore year.
