Rebounding in the playoffs and every possession is just so darn critical, plus the game becomes extremely physical. Hopefully DMO can pick it up on the rebounding part of his game, cuz it's looking like he's going to be getting some clock at the center position when Howard gets back. The kid has got some great natural post moves and a decent stroke from the 3pt line, he's been such a huge huge plus for the rockets this season.
T.Jones is back and ready to claim his starting position back at PF. You guys talking about Dmo can't play center. Well news flash , neither can Jones. Lol So with that being said, Dmo better get it together because it's a good chance he will be playing back up to Dwight once he comes back.
If Dwight can give you 30-35 minutes, I think we'll be okay. Defensively we are not very good with D-Mo at the 5 but offensively the D-Mo/TJ pairing has a ORTG of 113.8 this season. That gives us some hope to outscore opponents somewhat consistently, even against playoff defenses. And to be fair, not every team has a PF like Kevin Love to draw our PF away from the basket highlighting D-Mo's weaknesses as a defensive 5.. Terrence Jones had 0 blocks and only 7 rebounds in heavy minutes tonight after averaging 3 and 10 per game after the AS break. A big reason for that was he was very rarely on a position to get those being stuck on the perimeter with Love and numerous switches on the p&r.
Yeah, he's hatching too high on PnR. As the PF, it might be fine, with a big guy behind him. As the center, he can't do that. It exposes the whole interior undefended. After the last few games, I am convinced that DMo cannot play center full time. It is not so much that he's not strong enough, although that is a factor too. It's his mentality. His defensive instinct does not work well in the anchor role. On offense, he's doing fine. He rushed a few bunnies. Otherwise he'd have a good game. I have accepted that DMo will never be a great rebounder. He's quite good at boxing out. But he is not explosive or athletic enough to hold his position and go for the ball at the same time.
Is there any gif reaction of Dream when DMo punk'd Mozgov? <iframe src="https://vine.co/v/O0zrMxbd5lx/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script src="https://platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js"></script>
agree. but when dorsey was starting at C he did the same thing. He'd get out to the 3 pt line on some guard and then run back to his open man, flailing his arms hoping to deflect the pass. i just don't think it's their idea. Thinking McHale said "hey, put a little pressure on the ball handler after the pick" and it's morphed into "trap that guy every *****ing time". DMo will figure it out. That's an easy fix. And once that's corrected, he'll be back in position to get a defensive rebound. Two birds, one stone type stuff.
those post up moves were pretty but in playoffs we need tough guys in that paint to rebound and finish around the rim.
I dont want to rely on him for rebounds in the playoffs. He is going to get killed. He is still too soft!
His shot has improved and he post moves are still good, but he's helping too far and ending up out of position. He's got to get overall stronger and learn how to play better positional defense.
Actually I dont trust either on rebounds. DMo is soft on board and Jones has positioning issues. Thee is a reason Tristan Thompson went bananas on these guy on the boards. They bring psotives on the team but rebounding is where they will hurt you, especially DMo.
thats when stats don't tell the story, jones was going in there grabbing boards, dmo was so flat footed on rebounds most of the game getting bullied down there
he's trying to play defense without fouling. He's been picking up early fouls for weeks now - it was nice to see him stay in the game. He's tall enough to be able to challenge shots without jumping and without fouling. that's the next step for him. This team needs to learn how to get him the ball in the post. It's absolutely ridiculous. He has to come out to the 3pt line to post up.
So? If he is trying to avoid fouls, but in turn consistently getting lost and out of position where the other team scores easy layup after easy layup, then who cares?
Don't bother, D-mo is the biggest scrub alive in the eyes of some. In the eyes of others Jones is the biggest scrub. It become comical.
My favorite thing about JVG was he recognized the advantage Yao had in the post and made post entry passing a focal point of his practices.
