I just readed out from this interview Questions and answers with Rockets GM http://espn.go.com/blog/houston-rockets/post/_/id/1341/a-q-and-a-with-daryl-morey
yes exactly. If he continues this then first the defender will start hanging more close to him and guard him. Then he will have to shoot respectably (even if it's a bit lower as is normal if he can shoot at a respectable percentage it will be enough) some times during a game say 3-4 then he will be the labeled stretch four. Time. It takes time also for the opponents defences to adjust. They haven't adjusted yet they need to be shown that they need to do it and they will try to. It's what every young player faces and does when he develops his game. But if right now you want to call him a "stretch 4" he isn't because he doesn't effect the defence.
Guess Morey means by him shooting the basketball that he's playing apparently. I will get extremely excited when he's actually cleared to play and practice (full contact) with the team. I don't think he's played 5 on 5 basketball in 8 months or so.
My point is if he is getting unguarded shots then what's the problem? Either they respect the shot and he provides spacing or they don't and he gets open 3's which he hits consistently. Both are good offense so why does he need to be guarded?
Don't take this the wrong way really..but because I'm also someone who doesnt' speak english as first language, I just felt the need to tell you that the past of read is also read. It's not like a normal verb. Because it's so common word maybe you should know it. It's bad for the team. If he is to be left unguarded like that (which wont' happen but let's imagine it) then he should get more 3pnt FGAs. Right now it shows an untapped possibillity which is bad for the team. A) someone who can shoot but doesn't take more attempts esp when you compare him to other "stretch 4s". B) someone who doesn't get respect from the defence so the defence clogs up the lane. So you have a weapon in your offence that is left not only underutilised but also doesn't help his teammates. As I said blame the coaching staff too. That's the importance of a stretch four not the raw stats. It's the effect and the respect they get from the defences which makes the game easier for the guards and the center. This will show more in the playoffs when the defence will be fully prepared. If DMO by the playoffs can command some respect by the defences even if not that much but at least to average levels then the game will open up for the whole team.
And also there is a polemic attitude in this forum. It's not like one camp or the other between the pfs. When I say something it doesnt mean I "attack" DMO. It's just the facts on that matter. Respect from the defence is crucial for the team and also to judge a players abillity as a shooter. For example Curry demands extreme attention from defences, that makes him even better shooter than someone who lets say had the same percentages but many lower FGAs and left to shoot him like alone in the gym. When you call someone a good shooter CONTEXT matters as much as %. I dont' participate in this idiotic war between Jones and DMO fans so anything I say about either it's my honest and objective opinion on them.
Sounds like if playoffs started today, DMo would play. But they're making him return not just like before, but even better. Stalling technique for Morey.
I would say not at all..unless maybe it was the finals and they were desperate enough to risk re-injury. FO guys aren't really qualified to talk about this...they simply spit out what they understood from the med staff...my guess is DMo is allowed to work on his game now and that's considered restriction free. Morey goes on to say the doctors want his core to be at least as strong, or stronger, than before, as well as having his muscles balanced before giving the green light. That definitely sounds like he's not medically cleared yet. It would be pretty careless of them to throw him out there, if his core isn't even back to what it was..and really, since that got him injured, they're likely going to get his core stronger than before, not just the same. The good thing is DMo takes the doc everywhere, even lunch

What a lunch in @killensbbq ! Not the best angle comparison...but I think you can see how Dwight's posture looks compared to Dmo's now. Dwight has that excessive neck extension and you can kind of see how all the tension is in his upper traps. He's basically shrugging to get his arms up, while DMo looks more relaxed. I shoot right and write left. We're twins, but not really. #thuglife
I bet that's frustrating as hell for a DMo fan, but he'll get back to his old ways and be even better than before, soon enough. That man can play the game! I'm exactly like RV6. If I need a little power, I use the right hand, if it's detail oriented: left. DMo's as normal as they come.

I guess I've seen enough to conclude that he is. Whether or not players will react to him as a shooter immediately doesn't concern me. 1) He took 113 3s last year, more than LaMarcus Aldridge and Meyers Leonard. 2) There was an obvious upward trend in his volume in the 15 games before he went down (about 3 attempts per). 3) The results he's posted from his shooting drills, and Morey's recent comments - "His shooting looks unbelievable. His hands are bleeding from shooting. You'll see a big bump in his shooting." That's enough for me to conclude that DMo is a stretch 4, even if we don't have a huge pool of information to draw on.
You can notice in Dmo's recent pictures he has gotten a lot more jacked/leaner this past offseason. You can tell he has worked hard on his body
