This is interesting but a single study is not enough to dismiss the medicine in all cases. They obviously gave it too late. Such a high death rate regardless of treatment or not is not consistent with the illness. The experts who do tout this say it must be administered early on, not later on when it has little to no use... hell this may even support that using it too late in treatment has a detrimental effect. I'd like to see a larger study that really shows us how far along the progression of the disease was and the time the treatment is administered.

I would go as far to say that the way this is worded, it almost seems like a take down of the cheaper widely available treatment in favor of the medical interests that will profit if there is a vaccine. It is exactly how I would design the study. And how I would word it. Pick desperate dying patients, give them meds, then record high death numbers in order to bash a treatment you don't like for either financial, political, or both, reasons. Ya'll accused Trump and others of doing this, so I will put that possibility out there about the people who did this study. This would definitely not be the first time the VA was involved in corruption and/or incompetence.

I think in this case a lot of conservatives are latching on to the conspiracy narrative because they believe it's absurd to literally believe Trump without consulting a doctor on taking any type of medication.
