Battier's defense, when he's on, is better than watching a player go for 50. He had journalists all over the nation writing articles on how face guarding was illegal. You need shane to win.

My great grandparents missed that memo...

I don't quite have time for creating and debating a D&D thread right now, maybe later.

You realize if we had drafted Clyde we wouldn't have gotten the 1st pick in the next draft meaning no Hakeem.

    Just saying.

The point of the thread is not really about Clyde vs McCray but rather that there is a time you have to move forward, whether a trade or move is bad or not.

It is a thread to point out that the Rudy Gay trade (good or bad) is a moot point, that trade happened, it is over, we have a team, we need to improve..that is more important to discuss than a 2 year old trade that you may or may not like.

LOL - The history of the Rockets is important as we all know. This thread is so much easier to read without people in here trying to stir up trouble and being rude and calling people names.

    I like it.

this would carry a lot more weight if he had helped get this team out of the first round, like he was supposed to do.

this team hasn't had a problem winning in the regular season. the selling point of the trade was that shane provided immediate help that this team needed to advance.

If we had a healthy Yao, the team would have advanced THIS year.....so, I do not think Battier is that much of a problem.

    Rafer on the other hand.....

    Echidna
    (Spiny Anteater)

    Possibly Endangered

    Scientific Name: Tachyglossus aculeatus
Class: Animals with Milk Glands (Mammalia)
    Subclass: Earliest Mammals (Prototheria)
    Order: One-Holed Mammals (Monotremata)
    Family: Tachyglossidae.

The Name "echidna": "Echidna" derives from the Latin word for "viper," probably because of the snake-like tongue the echidna uses to lick up the insects it eats.

Located: Australia, Tasmania, southern New Guinea

Habitat: Terrestrial. The echidna (which is also called a spiny anteater) lives among rocks and in hollow logs. Even though it doesn't dig its own tunnels, when an echidna needs to escape an enemy, it can quickly burrow straight down into the soil.

Description: The echidna has a small tail and a narrow beak. (Can you tell which end is which in the picture at the top of this page?) There are short-beaked echidnas and long-beaked echidnas. The mouth is toothless and very tiny. The body is heavy and round. Everywhere except the belly, it is covered with coarse hairs and short, pointy spines. (They're very different than the spines on a porcupine!) Each foot has five toes with strong claws. On each hind foot there is an extra long, curved claw on the second toe; the echidna uses this claw to clean between its spines. Males grow to about 13½ to 17½ inches in length and weigh about 6½ to 14½ pounds. Females are somewhat smaller.

Behavior: The spiny anteater is an nocturnal animal. He becomes active at twilight and spends the rest of the night digging out ants and termites which he pulls in with his long, sticky tongue. His vision is weak, but he has a strong sense of smell and sharp hearing. The echidna can go without food for long periods of time. When threatened, the echidna can quickly roll into a prickly ball for protection.

Reproduction: The female echidna normally lays one egg, although it can occasionally lay two or even three. She keeps the egg warm for about ten days in a temporary pouch on her abdomen. When the baby echidna hatches, it begins suckling milk inside the pouch, where it will live until its spines begin to appear. At that point, the mother puts her baby in a sheltered place and goes about her business. She returns to suckle the baby every day for three months, when it is old enough to find food on its own.

part of the problem is that the older the trade gets, the more obvious it becomes that it was a bad deal. it's probably going to get worse too.

90% of the threads on here are about the past. the "what was it like to watch olajuwon?" thread has been one of the most popular. I don't see you whining about that one....

let people post about what they want to post about. you obviously have an opinion about the trade because you've posted about it. if you're not interested in the past, then just stay out of those threads.

I'm guessing 50% of the people don't know about Rodney McCray so they get frustrated and think you're arrogant and a know it all.

don't let them worry you, cause this is what it sounds like when doves cry!

Fair enough and a well reasoned argument.

I choose to try to get next year's team better, and not dwell on the past, sure we can learn from it, but with the Lakers getting Bynum back, the Spurs, Hornets, Jazz and Suns still in the Western conference, I think we need to try to get THIS team better.

I can understand people's angst about that trade, and whether you agree with it or not, it is irrelevent now, time for the Rockets to get better.

Because if we are still arguing about Rudy Gay next year at this time we will still be short of the promised land, and that is the NBA championship.

That is what matters to me.....getting to the finals, got to find a way to make this team good enough to get there.

This is a FIVE STAR THREAD that's getting low ratings because none of the people that voted you down EVER had COURTSIDE SEATS at a Rockets game.

TMac, their God, even poses for you. Its just jealousy.

    Keep posting these awesome threads!

You are kidding right!!!! Your obvious naive statement about African American Chattel Slavery is ancient history!! So this country which was built on color inferiority is great now??? We just integrated in 1965??????? That was only 42 yrs ago!!! That is not even a normal human lifetime. Most southern states such as our precious Texas did'nt even push the issue until the late 80's and you still have places that are silently still integrated. But non the less.... I'm off my soap box! I also believe that the Mccray Drexler Debacle is no longer affecting the franchise, but many others have definitely cursed this team! Examples.....Richard Jefferson, Rudy Gay, both similar players and both are what we need now! Funny
