we didn't let him go, he wanted to go back to Phoenix. Can't believe fans think he only left because we didn't offer him this or offer him that, he left because he loves Phoenix. We had no say in it
To me it reads like he's just making a funny on Twitter... ... and then Twitter followers are doing what Twitter followers do (confuse Twitter with real life).
from what I remember, it was Les's call to get Lin in a rockets uniform since he was kicking himself over the Linsanity period with the Knicks. Morey merely did what his boss asked him to do. It just so happened that it cost us Dragic.
IIRC, he gave us an offer and asked us to match it, and because of the player option Morey declined so he moved back to Phoenix. DD
This is not true at all. Dragic wanted to stay. From June 20, 2012: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...ragic-steve-nash-houston-rockets-phoenix-suns Dragic met with the Rockets first in July's free agency, before Phoenix or anyone else. He hoped to wrap up a deal. It didn't happen because the sides were far apart in negotiations: http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/47057/sources-dragic-return-to-rockets-unlikely Dragic absolutely wanted to stay in Houston, and to correct another error in this thread, he wasn't pushed out the door due to Les wanting Jeremy Lin for marketing (something that's become quite the urban legend). It came down to numbers. Lin was willing to sign a 3-year deal, which gave the front office more flexibility. Dragic demanded 4 years, which Phoenix gave him in the form of a Player Option after the third year. The HOU front office simply didn't view the gap between Dragic/Lin as enough to go for the extra year and a potentially untradeable contract (see Parsons' contract decision, which also involved a PO). It was a mistake in judgment. All there is to it, really.
This. Rockets realized their mistake after just one season and thus began exploring trades to ship Lin away. Rockets had to give up assets when they finally found a team that would take him. Had the Rockets signed Dragic instead, even if the Rockets didnt want to keep him, he would have had a lot more trade value than Lin ever did.
Props to The Cat for coming in and setting things straight on the Rockets/Dragic situation in the past.
It's hard for the truth to stay well known when we have clowns and "insiders" that post here that perpetuate myths. One of our "insiders" claims that it was Les that forced out Dragic because he wanted Lin for the marketing money. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=9058953&postcount=426
Feigen travels by commercial and not even on the team flight, I believe Bull may even know more than him regarding Rockets news.
