I get the feeling that naming the reputation ranks after players that may or may not be with the team long (james white, etc) may not be a good idea... that may require a lot of updating
The reputation feature works on some forums. TexansTalk is a forum that it works excellent on. Don't know how it'll do at ClutchFans, but its worth a try I guess.
I just learned two new things if anyone didn't know already. If you want to know your level, just hover the mouse over the green bars. If you want to see your rep comments, go to user CP.
If people are just going to abuse the system and disapprove of any post that they don't agree with this new feature will be really bad.
I think we can use relatively well known past Rockets. Hakeem rep - you are an MVP poster Drexler rep - dynamic poster Otis Thorpe rep - solid contributor Buck Johnson rep - inconsistent poster Steve Francis rep - overrated poster Vspan rep - you suck as a poster John Amaechi rep - reserved for mazyar edit: I'm a touch hotheaded huh?
You should see the feedback button between the report and reply button on each post. But someone mentioned Contributing Members might be the only ones who have it right now.
I think Repping should be available for all contributing members AND Members above a certain rep level. After all, quality posters contribute to the quality of this board too. E.g. if a normal Member reaches a certain Rep Level, he is given the option to Rep others. We can make this level a high one if we want. I agree Repping isn't for rookies or members with low post counts, however senior posters' posts are what keeps this forum running too.
Well, there's a plus and a minus sign so it seems that it IS possible to give out a negative rating. I don't want to give someone a bad rep just to try out a feature, though. I'll have to check the GARM. I agree with W22_STREAK, good members should have this feature too if it's not too much trouble.
where is my rep+ dude??? hehe just kidding........reminded me of that ashton kutcher movie but seriously, I don't even think there are enough people available to give out Reps...(i.e. the pool of contributing members are too small are make the Rep System significant). Contributing Members are few and far in between on this board compared to other Members and Rookies, and how many of them actually bother to give out Reps??? So far I've tried to check out the Rep of loads of people, and yet I've only seen one "Kyle Lowry", and all the rest are "James Whites", even though a few of those posts deserved Reps... I mean if a Rep is only given for an EXCELLENT INSIDER-INFO post, then what, we gonna have one Rep rating per year??? Its been at least a day since the system went into place, and as I said I've barely seen any Reps given out... So if we want to make this Rep system work, we need more people who can give out Reps...otherwise we're going to have 10 members on the whole board who are not James Whites for the next year... I love the idea of Reps though. Keep up the good work. I'd also think more skins would make this forum much more attractive to regulars.
i contributed a while ago as well. never got my status changed. might have been like 25 or 50 bucks in a check to the PO box. then another 10 or so on pay pal. i wonder if you have to donate a certain amount before you get ur status changed.
I don't think so. I can't remember how much I donated for sure before becoming a contributing member, but I think it was either 10 or 15. Possibly 20.
I said it in the hangout, but not sure if it should go here too? It will be interesting to see how it works, but I would prefer a number based system .....instead of a nebulous graphical green bar......something called "Street Cred" ....or "BBS cred" and then a number.....with $$ signs...something like that. Just my game designer self coming out....I guess. DD
I think the reputation system is nebulous itself as an indicator of poster quality. I'm not sure if the extra precision you get with a number system tells you much more about the poster. Kind of like PER. Does it really matter if you're a 28.3 instead of a 26.9? Either way, you're probably really good ... and that's all we really need to know.
