Does anyone remember when and why did Dream give Barkley the middle finger on TV?

I'm trying to remember when this happened but I'm totally lost. I'd imagine it was sometime in the 80s because that's the only time Dream would do such a thing. I realize this thread may seem pretty stupid but its the lockout and there's not much else to discuss.

He did that a lot. I specifically remember one time where he kept jawing with the ref and ended up telling him to **** off. The surprising thing is he got away without being thrown out or t'd up. Either the ref didn't hear it or he was too scared to call one. It was in the DREAM Team 96 gold medal game against Yugoslavia.

I remember when Hakeem had a wide open layup at the end of Game 7 when the Rockets beat Phoenix in '94 and Barkley gave him a chicken**** shove in the back that put him on the ground. But I don't remember a middle finger so maybe that wasn't when it happened.

Perhaps the ref doesn't understand English.

I remember that very well. I also remember when Barkley was talking trash about how the Suns were going to win the series, and then once it was over, the reporters asked him about the trash he talked and then Phoenix losing, and Barkley wussed out and started saying that he was going to retire and that's what should be talked about.

**** Barkley! Didn't like him in Phoenix and never wanted him in Houston.

Yeah, I remember that. It was cool to see Max get in Barkley's face only to get thrown out. Dream still got the AND1, though. Maybe the middle finger never happened, I'm just going off what I heard and I thought no better place to ask than clutchfans. If it did happen, I'd imagine it was in the first few years of Dream's career.

I was at that game! Remember it well. The Summit was rocking that day. The game was pretty much over at that point, it was a cheap ass move by Barkley.

No, you're right. The middle finger definitely happened and Barkley busted out laughing when he did it, if I recall correctly. I can still remember Olajuwon doing it.

I recall in the 80's when Olajuwon shoved a ball in Barkley's face... Barkley played for the Sixers then. It may have been the same game.

Nope. lol. I don't remember the situation, I just remember it happening. I remember Olajuwon leaning towards Barkley and throwing the finger from his waist. It wasn't up in Barkley's face. Barkley, from what I recall, took the ball out of bounds after whatever play caused it.

Ahh the good old days, when competitors fought, emotions were high and tempers could flare. That is the game I loved, the days when great players lead their team into battle. Not now when so called superstars just seem to fizzle and the league wants everyone to play like emotionless robots so they set good examples and be role models for the kids when you can't even afford to take a family to a game without it costing a fortune.

I say let the players battle and take all the ticky tack fouls out of it.

Dream would be getting T'd up on the constant in today's NBA. Every time he yells "fockass" that's an automatic freethrow for the other team.

I just remember the Dream punking Michael Cage in his early years... and the fight with McDyess
