Not really. They are not getting big leads a blowing them. They are just getting blown out by the better teams.

Maybe it's being a Debbie Downer...maybe it's just getting older...but I'm fully prepared to be disappointed by the Texans. It's like a defense mechanism. I'll watch every minute and will root like hell for any Houston team...but years and years of disappointment season me.

Sorry to say, but much like the Rockets, they'll need a championship to erase the stigmas of the past. Just look at the Lastros...uh...Disastros...er...Half-Astros...even a World Series appearance wasn't enough. To feel like a winner, to be seen as a winner, you have to win it all.

A regular season win against the Colts isn't going to change Houston's perception of its football history/context.

    No.
The Oilers leaving and history was like going through a messy divorce.
Now that we have remarried, I try and leave that in the past.

That is why I am going to the titans game tomorrow. I will be performing a voodoo, and implanting a texans beanie doll somewhere in a undisclosed location in LP field. ...this service will be happily free of charge or interest fees on behalf of Texans fans everywhere. You are welcome.

I wasn't speaking in reference to the big picture, only in reference to the way we feel going into the playoffs this year. Win a big game on the road this week and we're riding some momentum and heading into the playoffs with confidence, instead of with those old "here we go again" feelings.

The Oilers really did a number on Houston fans. The older fans have a complex that only winning a Super Bowl would cure.

I didn't even really watch the Oilers (only got into football the last few years) and I'm having flashbacks.

Yes. Like Max said...I'm numb to the positives and expect the negatives. I watch every second...and always expect the worst.

The Steelers, Bills and Chiefs were simply the most crushing blows that ended seasons. There were many, many others along the way...

I fully expect the ChuckStrongs to win tomorrow and the Texans to go 0-1 in the post-season.

    Go Texans!

No doubt, not only the Oiler experience but Houston football at any level is filled with soul crushing disappointments. I will not enumerate nor reminisce. But besides all that, the Texans just aren't playing well at the time they need to be peaking. They actually appear to be declining. The similarities to last year are striking. After the three game slide I concluded that the post season would be a continuation. It wasn't. Actually they also played well in the Ravens game, so you never know.

Nevertheless, my instincts tell me that this season is essentially over. I will celebrate gleefully if I am wrong. To blow home field throughout the playoffs would be such a lost opportunity. Their performance in Reliant against Minny is still inexplicable. "That's just football" comment by Kubiak is ridiculous. Not having your head in the game when everything is on line, "just football," no, just stupid.

Not really. But then maybe it's because I've been through the Oilers, but I still haven't hyped myself up with this team yet. I'm still not convinced they are who we say they are, so the fall will be much less hurtful. Of course, if they win a ring, then I'll look like an idiot. :)

I'm just happy that the Titans fans/trolls are no longer posting here. Whatever else happens is fine.

Nah that nightmare went away when buddy took that team to Tennessee.
This is a new chapter in Houston football that will bring us to the long awaited promise land.

I was thinking the other day. Can anyone remember or tell me the last year they had the first round bye, the year they lost in the dome to the Chiefs. We're they #1 or #2 seed? Couldn't remember.
