If it wasn't for Dwight, do you think that Morey would have tried to get all of these FA's that are being signed right now? As of right now, I am not really comfortable with having Garcia and Anderson to back up Parsons and Garcia. If Howard decides to go somewhere else, do you think it will be too late?
No wasting cap space like the Pistons did a couple of years back is just stupid. You have to go all in for a second star to have a legit chance for a ring.
Which one of these free agents so far is a "Oh yeah, we definitely are going to miss getting this guy?"
What is the point of tweaking our team with any players that are not stars? Smith, Milsap, and Mayo are all not stars IMO, but borderline stars. The only fish worth catching and committing to were CP3 and D12. CP3 is no longer on the market so that leaves D12.
Besides Dwight Howard, I want Mayo to be the 6th man, but that dude will ask for a lot of money. Richard Hamilton will be cheaper and has experience and bring defense to the team and he can teach Harden a few. Francisco Garcia is also my choice.
Dunlevey would have been nice, but Garcia and Delfino are still available, so we still have options for shooters. Smith and Milsap are waiting for the dominos to fall after Dwight's decision.
None - but without Dwight we might have gone harder after Dunleavy and sign someone like Millsap or Smith later. I don't think we would have kept the cap space. And without Howard a lineup like Lin / Beverly / Canaan Harden / Beverly Parsons / Dunleavy Smith / DMo / Jones Asik / Smith Wouldn't be too bad...
i think if in the end rockets not sign with d12, then rockets already lost a lot, and 10 days are too long, every good f.a already gone by 10th.. hopefully not
Nobody has signed anyone yet. I don't think that anybody who has committed so far is irreplaceable. We get Dwight, everything will fall into place. We don't, and we can still make some upgrades. Not everyone is going to commit before the moratorium is over - there will still be plenty of people available.
David West? He's 33 years old. And he loves Indiana so much, he re-signed without taking visits from other teams. I doubt the Rockets were targeting any of the free agents who committed to new contracts today. West, Redick, Budinger, KMart, Splitter, etc. It's pretty obvious the Rockets have their eyes on young, talented power forwards. Josh Smith, Paul Millsap, etc. Those guys aren't going anywhere until after the Rockets resolve this Dwight situation.
Yeah definitely wanted Rocket sign Mike D. Bulls got him for 3 mil a year - that's awesome value pickup.
Not me, if we don't get D12 (but I hope we do), I'd rather keep our team and cap space for a REAL superstar. We might get Delfino back. We are still very young with improvement ahead.
The only guy I really wanted was Dunleavy, and he is not indispensable. Morey is playing this the same way he did last year. Let teams overpay for role players at the beginning of FA, and then sign similar players to dirt cheap contracts. We will get what we need, which will probably include a bevy of 3&D players.
You might get Rip Hamilton to be a 6th man but that WON'T happen with Mayo. He will be starting for awhile
Like who? We have been disappointed before many times in the past. It can happen again. If it does, we are just gonna go all out on Smith?
