Everyone that says trade was good. Are we celebrating ALMOST winning now? Injuries are part of the consideration and Paul being old and injury prone certainly factors in the decision
We're not going to trade Chris unless he asks for it. And Lebron is not so dumb to burn his cap space on his friend anyway, if he wanted to play with him so much he would've come here. The Lakers are going to try to sign and trade for players on their prime, maybe, just maybe, if they literally strikeout on every player available, which means on at least: Kawhi Durant Klay Davis Butler Kemba Beal Irving Holiday Middleton Cousins Harris ...don't get your hopes up.
But was CP the only one that could have gotten us thede... we had a solid zquad before CP came... we just neeeded a guy that excelled in his role... but, we went out and spend everything we had on a guy that couldnt make it happen... someone else could have gotten us CLOSE to the ring, for a much cheaper price
We had a "solid" squad that couldn't beat the Spurs without Leonard. We weren't all that solid in reality. Bev was injured all of last season too. We would have went no where is we ran it back. We swung or the fences because Harden was 29. The problem was CP was too old and only had 1-2 seasons left, but now we are tied with that contract for 3 more.
Sure was. There’s no role players lifting the ceiling like it did with cp3. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn’t followed this team enough
CP3 was pretty absent from this series until game 6. We could have used his 3 pt shot ability in the close games we didn't win. CP3 has never been a scorer, we still needed a consistent third scorer and during the regular season we filled that spot with Capella and Gordon. During our losses our role players (Rivers, Nene, Gordon) marginally stepped up, we need to address this 3rd scorer issue before we behave like we deserve a championship.
Nah. We wouldn't be contending otherwise. Lol at Beverley and Harrell. Love them but they aren't getting us closer
I liked it and hated it when the trade was made. We all knew the best chance of a championship would be in CP3's first year because he was going to continue to deteriorate as he aged. The chances of winning a title were lower this past season than the first season with CP3 and they'll be even lower next season. Now we're locked into an oft injured declining player for huge money. The next few years could look quite dark.
I think people are panicking too much over the age thing. Yes he is starting to decline but he just turned 34. Jordan won a title at 34. Nash got to the WCF. Hakeem got to WCF with an old roster (and lost to 34 yo Stockton). Kobe averaged 27 ppg. Many examples of good years at age 34. 35 and 36 are much higher chance of big dropoffs but not guaranteed.
I am going to hijack this thread and throw a monkey wrentch ... The unthinkable ... James Harden + CP for AD + a borderline all star PG (not necessarily Jure) May be Lowry. Then you keep Gordon. Do it?
I like it. Man MJ, Kobe and even Nash. But I can’t just fool myself with that coolaid based on my owe eyes.
I don't regret the trade at all; I'm happy the Rockets got CP3. However, I wish we could've pulled off that trade in a way that we could also keep Beverley, so that we could use him off the bench as an energy spark to spell CP3.
So you want a bigger faux MVP that hasn't gotten past the 1st round, an even bigger choker of a PG, and you KEEP Gordon? I thought the point was to INCREASE our chances of success.
