WHAT!!!!! I hate unrefrigerated ketchup. I cannot eat that stuff out the packets. Give it to me to go and I'll use my cold ketchup when I get home. Different folks, different stroke I guess.
Don't use a lot of ketchup, so I keep the big bottle in the fridge & keep a small one in the pantry, refilling as needed. Cold ketchup on hot food is just wrong.
Personal preference. You are not "supposed" to leave it out, you are not supposed to refrigerate it, you can do whatever you want. It will not harm you if it's left out, it will not harm you if it's refrigerated.
I keep mine in the fridge. On another note, don't most restaurants keep their butter out in the open?
From Land O Lakes: http://www.landolakes.com/common/ShowTopic.cfm?TopicID=194&QCategoryID=5 Is it safe to keep my butter on the kitchen counter so it is always soft? We recommend that you follow the “Keep refrigerated” directions printed on the butter packaging. This follows USDA and FDA guidelines that state most dairy products should be stored in refrigerated conditions. We also recommend butter be used by the date stamped on the packaging
It's been about 50/50 for me as far as restaurants go... I keep my butter in the fridge, but have no problem eating room temp butter from restaraunts. Same goes for ketchup.
Compared to what? Pizza Hut? Kentucky Fried Chicken? Please show me where this information came from.
I put my ketchup in the fridge just because I like it cold. And I always use Lea & Perrins with my ketchup. Heinz Worcestershire Sauce sucks. As an aside... bacon sandwiches and watermelon!!! Delicious!
We refrigerate our butter (and ketchup). I find it really odd to leave it out on the counter, however, I assume that's what they did before we had refrigerators. (?) I saw this thing on the Food network once and thought it was pretty cool. http://www.butterbell.com/product-info.php I do not think I would ever use one, but it says you can keep it out for 30 days!
I leave my butter out. It's too much a pain in the ass to butter my toast in the morning with hard butter. In the summer, I may put it in the fridge when I know the AC won't be on. I go through butter quickly enough that it won't go bad before it's gone. And, I have a cover to keep the critters out (and, if they get in, as my father would say: "they won't eat much"). The overwhelming results of the poll only reinforce my conclusion that the BBS is overrun with germaphobes.
No, I'm not, and you're being naive. Taco Bell purchases their meat at the same grade as any other burger and fast food joint. If you refuse to eat at any of them, that's your prerogative. But don't think that Burger King's meat is any higher quality. Dog food? Seriously? Oh my. You must like stories. http://www.snopes.com/food/prepare/badmeat.asp
