This guy is so hard to watch. At times he plays great then next moment he’s pulling the most shaqtin a fool highlight.
MCW didn't look bad tonight . He shot 1/3 from 3 .... I don't think him not being guarded "destroyed the offense" He maybe drove in and passed up 2 3's So that's a total of 5 possessions where the spacing was off . And 3 of them were positive plays . In terms of who looked bad tonight .... I'll say that : Paul , Clint , Melo , Gordon ,and Green all played below expectations. Ennis and Harden played slightly below expectations. PJ and MCW played about how well I expected them to play . MCW can play and he can fit . MDA knows what he's doing . 2 Things in particular killed us tonight . 1) rebounding 2) New Orleans bigs . The battle was lost in the front court .... and by mirotic going nuclear and our own shooters (Gordon and melo ) going 3 for 14 . MCW Played pretty well and so did ennis until he took those frustration shots .
I mean we got back with him in the lineup and then MDA takes him out and Pels go on the run. I actually liked what I saw from him minus shooting
Don't worry, not every team is smart and won't guard MCW. Most teams are dumb and will face guard MCW even though he can't shoot, see Westbrook face guarding Rubio or Pat Bev face guarding non-shooters.
That's not how spacing works. Spacing doesn't mean that if a well known bricker makes a 3 or doesn't pass many 3s then everything is fine. Spacing means that a player has to guarded closely in the perimeter and that opens ..space for drivings. Teams don't guard MCW up close allowing for double teaming and collapsing in the paint. Teams are more than happy to allow MCW to take uncontested 3s all he wants.
Yes I know . They didn't guard him and the driving space went down But he made 1/3 and took the ball to the rack 2 other times . If they play off him and he continues to make them pay ... then that's fine . He's at 33% , if he gets to 35+ % then I'll be very happy if teams continue to give him space We got a fine number of good looks in the half court . His presence didn't impede our offense .
