This team needs to play defense to keep games close. D'Antoni doesn't like defense.

Disagree. IF you look at Lisanity run, they were winning with defense. What Dantoni offense requires is lack of ego. IF he can keep Harden in check ( as long as he is not melo), he can win games.

But it looks like the Lakers will get him before us.. so its gonna be a moot point.

BTW, what was McHales' Record as a coach for minn. ?

D'Antoni sucks, so I don't know why anyone would vote yes. He has failed pretty much everywhere he has ever coached, and he's had some stacked teams too.

The problem with the Rockets isn't McHale, yo. Its the fact that we overpaid for scrubs like Harden, Lin and Asik. These guys aren't leading any team to the finals any time soon.

No we don't need dantoni. OMG he makes no sense for this team. We don't have the 3 point shooters, we don't have the pnr big man. No to Mike Dantoni. Absolutely not. He also just recently had major knee replacement surgery & said he wants to take a year off to be with his son who is graduating HS. We don't have the personell for his system.

Mike d' Antoni would be the perfect coach for this team! Maybe we could hire a defensive coach as an assistant as well. :)

Mike D'Antoni would be a bad stop gap, he is all about offense and frankly while he would help some of our players develop that side of their game, he'd never coaches his teams to play defense in when it is needed.

I'd rather give the season to Finch, see what if anything he does and then pick up another coach next off season.

It has actually been 71 games that this same style of "coaching" has been suffered by the players and fans. 66 last season and 5 so far this season. New season, same McHale :(

I'm watching the replay of NY-Dallas Linsanity game... and it's a very different Lin.

D'Antoni's 20 seconds or less, free flowing, pick n roll offense could do us a lot of good.

McHales is good guy but he's not really a great coach.

In terms of technical coaching ability I think D'Antoni has the edge.

It's proven Lin + D'Antoni works very well.

Yes... a very different Lin. I think McHale has a leash on Lin and prevents him from doing the things he could do in Dantoni offense (more freedom). We don't have to hire Dantoni, but at least tailor the offensive book to play to our stars' strengths. That's what good coaches do!

D'Antoni runs a gimmick offense. Does not care about defense. DO NOT WANT.

Every damn thread you call Harden a scrub. And he isn't.

It is early in the season, but McHale can't coach, and that's the long and the short of it. He interviewed before last season and Morey was blinded by the Celtics-in-common, white-guy-guffaws coming out of McHale's mouth.

Did anyone see the highlight that Clutch posted of Chase's game winner versus the Pacers?

Perfectly diagrammed play from Adelman... I miss that so much... :(

The Knicks put Woodson on D'Antoni's staff to coach defense. At end of games, Woodson even took over the huddle on defensive possessions. Look at the D'Antoni teams in Phoenix and you'd see how much he disregards defense.

Well, for someone who has just signed an 80 million dollar contract, Harden is definately playing like a scrub right now.

I want to see more consistency and leadership out of him. That doesn't mean he needs to score 40 points every night, but he needs to leave a mark on the game.

We could have payed Budinger 80 million to do what Harden has done the last three games.

In any case D'Antoni is an upgrade from McHale.

Our defense will be moot if we can't even put points on the board.

Why is offense important? (Very basic, so simplistic, sounds idiotic)

Because this game is a game of "OUTSCORING" your opponent...

The offense has to be there first before the defense should even matter..

Unless we are capable of playing Detroit Pistons championship caliber defense which in this case to hell with offense.

If we wan't to win games, we have to have an ability to outscore, if the offense sucks... winning can't be expected...

yeah yeah they keep saying that defense wins championships, that's because it's the difference maker between finals teams...but to even be able to reach that level...

to be a finals team you have to be very good at "outscoring",

and then the difference maker to determine the champion will then be defense or whoever fails to bring their "outscoring" ability is the non-champion....

I'd rather have a proven offense guy in D'Antoni, than a proven nothing (not offense/not defense) guy like McHale...

    Pringles or Mchale?

Is this what it has come down to be successful? Sure Pringles is great at offense, but ask all his former players about defense and they will say "what defense?"

D'Antoni worked well with Coach K in the Olympics. He coached offense and someone else coached D. Just like in NY. It doesn't take a genius to do the same here in Houston.

And that gimmick offense not only flows, but scores a ton of points. Something the Rockets are having trouble with right now. They are also having trouble getting easy looks, blocking shots and turnovers, but one thing at a time.

Did you see what he did to New York last year?
Knee-jerkers need to at least find better options.
