I think it depends upon their style, Chris Paul needs the ball he won't want to be somewhere that he can't play his game. But catch and shoot star players would love it here. DD
There have really been two top.notch free agents since harden signed Durant and Howard One signed here
If they did they wont after this year's postseason. No elite player will want to play with a guy who's known to quit
How many non ball dominant superstars are there? You could potentially get someone like Gordon Hayward but he is obviously not the piece that will make the team competitive against the Warriors?
Not just free agents. Men who are under contract find him attractive. Even men who are happily under contract. He's bad news.
He is. I think that it's the city and the front office that are weaknesses to free agents. The city of Houston doesn't ring as attractive as those other cities, though perhaps it should with the tax system. Harden isn't any of the organization's problems.
James Harden just needs to learn to not be so ball dominant to be effective. The ball will eventually end up in his hands one way or the other but if he can't learn to play off others real soon he is going to over exhaust himself, he is not going to attract any other star, and We're just not going to win anything. That's why teams like the Spurs, Golden State, Cleveland are just so "attractive". Everyone passes and no one is just holding the ball 99% of the time waiting for that other person to pass it to them. If he can add that to the repetoire then yeah they'll all come to Houston to play.
The only guy who supposedly had a problem with Harden on the court is Howard Harden sacrificed his game in OKC for team This is such a stupid topic
You forgot Lebron signing with Cleveland. fwiw: usually the "Top Notch" guys sign with their own team (for the money). If you include them, then we have Chris Paul, too, a few years back. So, you're narrowing it down to both "Top Notch" free agents and those who "Changed Teams" to end up with just three big names. I guess you didn't consider LMA top-notch when he signed with SAS. If so, then there's also Love (with CLE) and Marc Gasol signing with their own teams.
Agreed. I did think about LeBron going to Cleveland LMA was a top free agent. Durant and LMA definitely went to better teams Love was traded for Wiggins. Edit: on players staying with their teams, the NBA rightfully tries to encourage that
I was talking about Love immediately becoming a FA and resigning with CLE. Resigning like Paul did is what is encouraged and such, that's the main reason we don't see top free agent move much. Just pointing out that Paul, Marc Gasol and Love were free agents to your list So if Harden or others are really attractive, like Wade was for Lebron and Curry et al for Durant, then they can get the very few tops to forego the money and switch teams and that's ultimate attraction.
All these situations are unique Wade LeBron and Bosch got together in the Olympics The only point I was making is Harden is not not attractive
and the results garnered from the one that did sign here, is a cautionary tale for any future top notch free agents that entertain the thought of coming here... Sign the contract and get the money... but be warned that if James doesnt like you... you may get phased out of the game plan and relegated to a support role... so if you're signing what will prob be your last contract - feel free - its all guaranteed money... but if you're early or mid career - might be a bad move for 'your brand'... imo....
