Caught parts of it: 1. Hosts asked Morey about doing something like the CLE-MEM salary eating/tax related moves. Morey says he expects some to happen in the league. He says the team has the most cap room right now to absorb salaries at the deadline but, unlike some other teams, they want to preserve cap room for summer 2013 and does not want to take on salary obligations beyond this season. (This I think refers to the CLE move where Speights has a player option and might pick it up, especially if he sucks or gets injured, or maybe to the $1M guarantee on Rip Hamilton's contract). 2. Says Miami is still by far better than NYK. Also Bulls and Pacers are in better position to threaten Miami than NYK. Says if HOU was in the East, people would be talking about how they are one of the teams with a chance to beat Miami. 3. Says Spurs and OKC (and maybe Clips) are the class of the West. Followed by Memphis (will need to wait and see how the trade works) and Denver. When asked, he Says HOU matches up best with Clips among the top 3 teams. 4. Says making playoffs is by no means assured especially with Lakers coming on lately.
Daryl comes on at around 23:35, <iframe width="658" height="371" scrolling="no" src="http://www.sports790.com/player/embed.html?autoStart=false&useFullScreen=true&mid=22853143&osu=null&startButtonColor=0xffffff" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" ></iframe>
At first glance Lin just looks like he's doing the most trollerific celebrating since Chris Duhon's travel dance, but then I see Parsons right underneath him...
Good interview! Glad that Daryl Morey keeps on reiterating that he won't make any short term move during the trade deadline that could hurt us going forward and that he's hell bent on keeping that max salary cap space going into the off-season unless a franchise player suddenly becomes available, which i doubt. In short, no Josh Smith, Kevin Garnett, and what not. YES!
