So.....then you think it's better to have no one than someone who has had one nagging injury in their career? Interesting and incredibly hot take.
If it's true that they are still offering the $4.4M I think it shows a certain amount of good willon the Rockets' part. It tells him that they weren't just offering that amount as a QO because they had to, but they think that is his value. It also shows they aren't going to punish him for continuing to find a deal more to his liking. I think this is the right move by the Rockets. Let the market set the price. The Rockets have at least set the floor above the minimum for him.
He's got no reason to sign early. Rockets haven't given him an offer that entices him to come to camp. He'll probably wait to last possible day before season.
This. The DMo fanboys don't seem to understand that Morey let the market set DMo's price. This isn't about being cheap but being prudent. DMo isn't worth much and it hurts their psyche's since they built DMo up so much.
d-mo is one back spasm away from being out of the league and farming potatoes in Lithuania. might as well get a head start
If that is so, if he's actually seeking a multi-year deal when his value is so low, that tells me he does NOT believe he is healthy enough to earn a larger contract by showing everyone what he's got. If he would rather have a multi-year contract based on his unusually low value right now than get on the court and prove he's worth more, maybe he isn't.
But we already know he can play in the NBA, he doesn't need to prove that. He needs to prove that his back is ok and that he can move as he did before that injury.
He can only do that by playing in the NBA like Batman said. He should have taken the QO and bet on himself with a rising cap and an era of large sports contracts. Why he didn't is very curious....
Not really, he already played well in the NBA, he's not unproven. The problem here is all on his back, i agree that he should've taken the qo, but that's another story...as long as he can show that his back is ok, Europe or NBA doesn't change anything here.
He hasn't replicated his flash in the pan. That's what we are waiting on, to replicate it. He could have showed it for his national team, could have showed in the offseason, and could be showing it the regular season. But here we are... It's a very big problem.
One can't show his back is NBA-ready in Europe either. Only the NBA is comparable to the NBA. Having a good (partial) year two years ago does not equal proving oneself. Not when a trade has been rescinded in the interim because he failed a physical. D-Mo has one path to getting the payday he wants and that is to play, and play WELL, and stay healthy, with the Houston Rockets. That is his only option if he wants a raise. He won't get one from another NBA team or he would have already. If he did we could match but if nobody has wanted to offer more than 4.4 mil yet, he hasn't done anything to change their minds. He can't have because he can only do that on the court. On the NBA court, not Euro league. The fact that this has gone on so long and he hasn't taken the deal says one thing to me and one thing only: He doesn't believe in his own ability to raise his value by playing and would prefer a longer deal now because he thinks it might be his last. That is really a shame because I want to believe in him and I want him back. But there's no other rational way to look at this. Apparently, he doesn't believe in himself.
True, but that's because his back wasn't obviously close to be 100%, back problems are pretty serious...that's why i'm saying that what we need eventually is to see if his back is ok, if it is, there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to play well again...
