They might. Going 69-13 would put them in the conversation with the best teams of all-time. Plus it would all but clinch the MVP for Curry. I hate to say it, but you can't not give it to the best player on a team with a record that good.
Yeah you can not give it to the best player on a team with a record that good.... Want to know why? Because the MVP does not mean best player on the team with the best record.... It means MOST VALUABLE PLAYER to his team.... Harden has led the team with the most injuries to one of the best records in the league....... All year long Harden has had to go to war knowing that he has to be on every night because if he is not The Rockets don't win. That's how valuable Harden is to his team. Not only does he have to play and play well but he has to reach some of the highest stat lines in the league night in and night out in order for The Rockets to stay on top in the west. Harden is the mvp and its not close.....
It is close which is why we debate it on this forum every day. Like it or not Curry is leading the mvp race and the more GS the tighter his grip gets on the award.
Yep, for real, and it was put in place because of the Rockets. It was implemented after the 2007-2008 season, which nearly ended with a three way tie atop the Western Conference between the Rockets, Lakers, and Hornets. In that scenario, the three division winners would have been the Lakers, the Jazz (with the 5th best conference record), and the Hornets who won the 2 team tie break over the Rockets. The Rockets would have been granted the fourth top 4 seed as the winningest team that didn't win their division, but they would have won the 3 team tie break between the Hornets and Lakers. That would have led to the bizarre seeding of the Rockets at #1 even though they didn't win their division. It was announced with very little fanfare over the following summer that division winners automatically win tie breaks over teams that didn't win their division, but that surely was a result of the near miss of the Rockets as the #1 seed. It led to some rampant seeding speculation the following year when there was nearly a 4 team tie for seeds 2-5 between the Nuggets, Spurs, Blazers, and Rockets. For the record if we had won that last game against the Mavericks we would have taken the tie break against the Spurs on the fourth tie break (record against West playoff teams) to win the Southwest and then won the tie break over the division winner Nuggets and automatically over the Blazers to claim the #2 seed.
Losing that final game dropped the Rockets from 2 seed to 5 seed. Who knows how much farther they would have went had they not had to play the Lakers in the semifinals.
I don't know why it bothers me so much that we haven't taken the division title in my entire time being a Rockets fan, but it does. That near miss because of that last loss against the mavs was especially frustrating
Griz is not the only team that can overtake us. It's the clippers. They have such an easy remaining schedule that they might win their games to have 56 wins.
Winning the division title would give us huge advantage because we would clinch the tiebreaker over the Clippers.
Hell yes!!!! It's on our hands now, Grizzlies have lost enough lately and will lose at least one more so have to take care of business in OKC!
Theres a good chance on one of the games with the spurs that lops will rest some starters or key players. No way he lets his full squad go against us twice in the same weak.
I think there's a good possibility those two games will be played at playoff intensity by them IMO, there to close to the rockets in the standings for the 2 or 3 spot. As we all know from the rockets 2nd championship that's its almost next to impossible to win a championship or much less repeat without any home court advantage through out the playoffs.
The Grizzlies could lose way more than one more game. They still have to play at the Jazz, Clippers, and Warriors. And their 2 remaining home games are the Pelicans and Pacers, 2 teams trying to make the playoffs.
