Last 24 games guys, with Memphis slipping a bit and only 2 games back after they beat the Wolves tonight, can it be done? Our schedule: 59 Sun, Mar 1, 2015 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers L 60 Tue, Mar 3, 2015 @ Atlanta Hawks L 61 Wed, Mar 4, 2015 vs. Memphis Grizzlies Must Win! 62 Fri, Mar 6, 2015 vs. Detroit Pistons W 63 Sat, Mar 7, 2015 @ Denver Nuggets W 64 Wed, Mar 11, 2015 @ Portland Trail Blazers L 65 Thu, Mar 12, 2015 @ Utah Jazz W 66 Sun, Mar 15, 2015 @ Los Angeles Clippers L 67 Tue, Mar 17, 2015 vs. Orlando Magic W 68 Thu, Mar 19, 2015 vs. Denver Nuggets W 69 Sat, Mar 21, 2015 vs. Phoenix Suns W 70 Mon, Mar 23, 2015 @ Indiana Pacers W 71 Wed, Mar 25, 2015 @ New Orleans Pelicans W 72 Fri, Mar 27, 2015 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves W 73 Sun, Mar 29, 2015 @ Washington Wizards W 74 Mon, Mar 30, 2015 @ Toronto Raptors W 75 Wed, Apr 1, 2015 vs. Sacramento Kings L 76 Thu, Apr 2, 2015 @ Dallas Mavericks W 77 Sun, Apr 5, 2015 @ Oklahoma City Thunder L 78 Wed, Apr 8, 2015 @ San Antonio Spurs L 79 Fri, Apr 10, 2015 vs. San Antonio Spurs W 80 Sun, Apr 12, 2015 vs. New Orleans Pelicans W 81 Mon, Apr 13, 2015 @ Charlotte Hornets W 82 Wed, Apr 15, 2015 vs. Utah Jazz W I say 17-7 is very reasonable ending up with a 57-25 record. Memphis schedule: 59 Tue, Mar 3, 2015 vs. Utah Jazz W 60 Wed, Mar 4, 2015 @ Houston Rockets L 61 Fri, Mar 6, 2015 vs. Los Angeles Lakers W 62 Sat, Mar 7, 2015 @ New Orleans Pelicans L 63 Mon, Mar 9, 2015 @ Chicago Bulls L 64 Wed, Mar 11, 2015 @ Boston Celtics W 65 Thu, Mar 12, 2015 @ Washington Wizards W 66 Sat, Mar 14, 2015 vs. Milwaukee Bucks W 67 Mon, Mar 16, 2015 vs. Denver Nuggets W 68 Tue, Mar 17, 2015 @ Detroit Pistons W 69 Fri, Mar 20, 2015 @ Dallas Mavericks L 70 Sat, Mar 21, 2015 vs. Portland Trail Blazers L 71 Mon, Mar 23, 2015 @ New York Knicks W 72 Wed, Mar 25, 2015 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers L 73 Fri, Mar 27, 2015 vs. Golden State Warriors L 74 Sun, Mar 29, 2015 @ San Antonio Spurs W 75 Mon, Mar 30, 2015 vs. Sacramento Kings W 76 Fri, Apr 3, 2015 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder L 77 Sat, Apr 4, 2015 vs. Washington Wizards W 78 Wed, Apr 8, 2015 vs. New Orleans Pelicans W 79 Fri, Apr 10, 2015 @ Utah Jazz W 80 Sat, Apr 11, 2015 @ Los Angeles Clippers L 81 Mon, Apr 13, 2015 @ Golden State Warriors L 82 Wed, Apr 15, 2015 vs. Indiana Pacers W I say they will go 14-10 the rest of the way and end up with 56-26 record. Both teams have 10 games against current top 8 in WC + top 4 EC. This is of course very optimistic, but the Rockets just have to win the winnable games and a few against WC & top 4 EC playoff teams to get that 17-7. I basically have the Rockets with a loss against every WC playoff team except for Spurs, Mavs and possibly Suns. Memphis has to basically lose 8/9 out of 10 games against the WC playoff teams + Chicago, but I gave them one win vs. Spurs and a schedule loss @ Pelicans. While this is highly unlikely, it is very unlikely that the Rockets only win 4 out of 10 against serious competition. What you guys think? I think it can be done, if we at least go 50/50 against the WC playoff teams + EC top 4.
I don't think so. We have too many tough games left. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I ain't holding my breath. As long as we hold onto the 3rd seed, we'll be ok. BTW, when will that Magic Number thread be resurrected?
I think either conference or division record, but that's a moot point. If we have any intention of catching them, we have to beat them on Wednesday which would clinch the season series.
Cant believe its more than 20 years since we've won the division. I know in basketball thats irrelevant but still..somethings gotta give soon.
It's possible. It crossed my mind independently of this thread this week. I really doubt it with Howard still weeks from even practicing.
Problem is there are some road back2backs in there that you have at wins. Need to worry about getting to 53 wins before thinking about the division
not without dwight. we have one of the toughest 5/7's in the league. it has b2b vs the best record in the east and 2nd best record in the west. rockets always struggle vs the griz. can stay in the 3-4 seed to finish the season
I think we will win one of the Cleveland or hawks game. Our TEAM (even without howard) is getting better than people expect/expected. Seems like our players are starting to get use to their roles. just need to stay consistent. I think we can get to that 2 spot.
I think the team is finding out how it likes to play with it's current cast of players. With TJones back in the line-up and playing well as the teams starting PF again and with the addition of Prigioni running the 2nd unit with James Harden on the bench, the teams best basketball is in front of them. I'm thinking the Rockets get a win on Sunday against the Cavs as the team continues to Jell with the addition of Jones to the starting line-up and Priginoni off the bench.
This team is enigmatic. You never know how they're going to play (lay an egg versus Mavs, struggle for 47 minutes against the Nets). It's possible. Going to be a rollercoaster though.
Wow, you have us losing to all the top teams. If we can't do better than that, we won't go anywhere in the playoffs anyway.
A win in Toronto? Have you watched the Rockets the last like 10 years? lol Very optimistic schedule, I'd be fine with holding on to HCA at this point.
For opponents in our division, it's head to head, division record, conference record, record against Western Conference playoff opponents. For opponents not in our division, it's head to head, conference record, record against Western Conference playoff opponents. Division winners always win the tie break over teams that didn't win their division. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it this year. Life is pretty hectic as a single father, and work is hella busy right now. Also just got my daughter out of the hospital. She's doing a lot better, but I haven't had much time to watch the Rockets let alone follow the rest of the conference as much as I do most other years. With Kyrie Irving out I see us beating Cleveland sunday. I see us beating Atlanta too they were hot on shooting last time we played them and they barely beat us.
