Yes I agree, but someone before mentioned he might go in as a Nugget/Sixer/Rocket. I was just throwing in my 2cents that his career in a Hawks uniform should also get acknowledgement.

Apparently he's ashamed of those statements and has completely changed his mind. He's now an activist or whatever for gay rights.

It would be awesome if he opened his hall of fame speech with "WHO WANTS TO SEX MUTUMBO!" Congrats and very well deserved honor. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sE-yNfQQasc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It should and it's going to be a tough decision for him (Edit: He doesn't have to choose. YAY NBA FOR BEING COOL!). There isn't much difference between his stats in DEN and ATL. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mutomdi01.html Denver: Drafted him and he played 5 full seasons. His 3 top shot blocking seasons were here. 15 postseason games played Atlanta: Played 4.5 seasons. 23 postseason games played. Had his top rebounding years here. Philadelphia: 1.5 seasons. 28 postseason games played. NBA Finals Appearance. NJN: 1 season. 10 postseason games played. NYK: 1 season. 3 postseason games played HOU: 4 seasons + Injury season. 22 postseason games played.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6XGt25SRmdg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This is the equivalent to the Pelicans beating Golden State this year. It was incredible. Also one of the reasons the NBA eventually switched to a 7 game series in the first round (used to be 5).
In 1994, Mutumbo's 8 seed Nuggets defeated the 1 seed Sonics in the first round, after going down 0-2 by winning three straight. http://www.nba.com/history/94nuggets_moments.html Due to the match up problems the Rockets had with Supersonics, it paved the way for Rockets in the NBA Finals.
When Yao went down and a super old Deke went out there, played incredible post defense, had people scared to take it in the paint, and got like 1 rebound per min I was on his bandwagon.
Pretty much. We should retire his number just for that alone. But he was awesome as a Rocket. I was really shocked how well he played here (and he seemed to love the city too).
I missed most of the Yao/McGrady era, but when I did catch games, it always seemed like Mutombo was playing because of Yao's injuries. It amazed me that he could still hold his own so well at his age. The man played in 75 games for us and started 33 at the age of 40. Not too many big guys go that long. He and Yao were a pair. Regardless of where his greatest glory may have occurred, I hope the Rockets will recognize his unique contributions in the history of the team at some point, especially now that he's a HOFer. Congratulations, Dikembe.
When the Sonics lost, I was so happy. I breathed a huge sign of relief. I think every team in the western Conference that wanted to get to the finals was happy that the Seattle Supersonics lost. The Sonics losing meant that the Rockets would not have to go up against the team that they had trouble matching up against. Gary Payton overwhelmed Kenny Smith and Sam Cassell and Shawn Kemp was too quick, explosive and powerful for Otis Thorpe to defend.
