Are you kidding? Rafer was eviscerated here for his wildly inconsistent play and inadequacy as a starting point. Jeremy, in my opinion, has far more supporters on the BBS than Alston could ever dream of.

Why is this question, which really belongs in one of the numerous Lin threads, even in this forum?

Depends on who you talk to, I'm assuming you want opinions from Rockets fans who at least saw Rafer from the JVG to the Rick regimes.

Lin is consistently inconsistent, but there's glimmer of hope I see in him sometimes

Rafer was just frustrating to watch, because he's just bad

I think Ariza got on my nerves more than both Lin and Rafer

Rafer was way better under Rick than JVG
Rick was using Rafer's strengths not his weaknesses

Rafer was a legendary street baller, but he didn't bring a bunch of And1 Mix tape fans here.

Lin's fans think he has no weaknesses, which is the problem

"Way better?" How so? Rafer was bad each and every season with the Rockets. How exactly did Adelman use him differently?

Easily more than half of this board is a Lin fan (myself included). I mean hell it seems like half of the members of Clutchfans now-a-days are LOFs. Rafer never even came close to that amount of support & that was during the pinnacle of his career.

I do think that fans expect more from Lin than they ever did of Alston, and rightly so. Lin has the potential to far surpass Rafer's peak. & let's be honest, Lin has shown us more to be excited about, in half a season, than Rafer did his entire time in Houston.

So to answer your question No, Jeremy Lin does not get as much hate as Rafer Alston. Being a frustrated fan and being a hater are two different things.

I never understood the Rafer hate. His shot was inconsistent but when he was on he was on. He was also a much better post passer than Lowry or Brooks will ever be. It's not that much of a stretch to say that Yao's numbers dropping were part of Rafer leaving.

Lin fans have to be some of the most insecure and sensitive ones I have come across.

As for Rafer, let me put it this way....

There would be no such thing as ROF even if Rafer was an Asian.

His ineptitude transcended across all culture barriers.

He was a beacon of failure.

The light at the end of the tunnel that no one wants to see when they are taking their last breath.

So you're just basing this off of full season stats. That figures. His shooting % increased by 3 and that makes Rafer "way better". OK.

His shot was pretty much consistently BAD. He was "on" maybe 3-4 games the entire season.

He was a good game manager, he controlled the tempo well and did not have many TO's and was a decent defender, but the guy simply had no offensive skills whatsoever.

I don't know, the only game I ever remember Rafer being "on" was that last game of the 22-game win streak.

not to say he was great, I just thought he was better under Rick.
I remember him playing better. More swag.

I know you didn't say he was great. But he wasn't "way better". Rafer's career as a Rocket was a flat-line of being bad.
