I agree that it was for Tracy to get an open position

I think it will be tough for Tracy to get open under Adelman, but under JVG it was tougher. T-Mac had to score and be a playmaker at the same time. He had 3 plays:

    1) T-Mac has the ball, Yao gives him a pick, Tracy draws a double-team and has to pass the ball

    2) Tracy posts up, pulls up for well contested jumper, drives to the basket or passes the ball

    3) Tracy comes off the pick from Battier (without the ball) and shoots the jumper (my favourite play last season)

    That's all

Regarding Yao against the Jazz, I think he was slowed by injuries. Yao has the ability to fake people but he was hampered in the playoff series and was limited in the moves he could make. Remember the Shanghai Shake? But against Okur, Yao looked slower than molasses.

were there better guards available in our price range?

yeah. i wasnt talking about you. i was talkin about the other guy mentioning rafer in toronto 3 or 4 times. who cares about rafer in toronto? what he did in toronto is irrelevant...i quoted you to aknowledge that fact that my stats are exaggerated...i wasnt look at averages, but when i do, it looks even worse for rafer alston

Even though Alston had decent assist numbers he was never the team leader, he never had contol of the game and never appeared to be a playmaker .
He was very poor in setting up Yao Ming, lacking in confidence or ability.
Many times he refused to pass to an open Yao when he was calling for the ball.
I expected much more from him!

    no he didn't

rafer did. just because you get a lot of assists doesn't mean your a point-forward.

did you watch any games? what was our offense? 80% pick and roll. Almost every single play was a pick and roll. i hardly ever saw rafer part of any pick and rolls

Rafer would get pick n rolls from McGrady, Hayes and Battier.

when did mcgrady and battier set picks? especially mcgrady....

I dont remember MCGRADY setting picks for Alston!? I must have a terrible memory....

I guess Alston had to get a pick every now and then. Thats the only way he'd be able to get in the lane to shoot that stupid floater

Rafer ran the offense better than any point guard we had on the team.

    How's that :D

I think we added three better ones over the summer is all.

How can you rate Rafer on his ability to run the offense? All he did was dribble the ball up - pass to T-mac, shoot bricks from 3-point land, or drive and shoot bricks from 2-pt land.

    He didn't run the offense.

    T-mac did.

Yes, before the injury I think he would destroyed Okur one on one. Reading Pryuen's translated article where Yao talks about putting off shoulder surgery until 2009 really scares me. From what I understand it is his shooting shoulder. I remember Nick Collision taking Yao down hard during one of our games vs. the Sonics. I wonder if that's when he was injured?

Thanks for the reminder. Yao's shoulder is a major sore spot with me. Starting right now, I'm gonna think about it every time I think of Yao.

    EXACTLY

All rafer ever did was hand it to tmac. The guy rarely set up players, it was all tmac.

    your an idiot.

your the same one who had the problem if t-mac wasn't considered a point-forward or point guard or anything with point.

    alston runs the offense and t-mac isn't a point-forwarrd

    DEAL WITH IT.

I really wish you couldn't start threads. 1 star for you. And not the gold kind - some rusty star I found in the dirt.
