Aaron Brooks is a scrapper and a scorer. He's an incredible value for the league minimum, and exactly the type of player you want in a playoff dog-fight. Glad Morey brought him back.

The whole purpose of trading Asik for picks or a really good pick(if that's what it comes down to) isn't to stockpile assets for a star like it was before. However, its to gauge the market for Asik, and if there isn't equal value now(which could very well be the case), getting something that will hold its value longer than Asik will on this contract on this team so he can maximize that value this Summer when it will be much easier to flip that pick for a real good player ALA the Rudy Gay for Battier trade.

Ex: (In the spirit of the holidays) Think about Christmas or Wedding gifts. Maybe your parents gave you a new jacket worth 100 bucks for Christmas, but you already have another really good jacket and winter is about to be over-with. So you go back to Sun & Ski Sports and get a store credit for that Jacket. Then you wait until the Spring and get yourself some new Board Shots & flip flops at that time when they start stocking the shelves for the Summer.

Think of Asik getting traded for a pick more like Store credit, than asset collection.

An analogy of what Morey was doing before was like asking for nothing but gift cards for Christmas and your birthday, and 3 years later compiling all those gift cards to finally get that new MacBook.

Right now if Morey took a draft pick for Asik, its pretty telling to us that there simply are not good players available right now that fit what this team needs, and Morey needs to get himself some "store credit" to be able to cash in when the next season comes around and offers up new options for him to trade for.

I think you're right. The Rockets are in the phase where they have their two stars, so it's all about filling in the role players for the team.

In addition to Brooks, this current team would probably be a perfect fit for: Scola, Lowry, and Battier. Funny, huh?

KLove on this team with Howard/Harden would be a guaranteed 'ship (as long as all remain healthy)

Defensively love and harden are poor and Dwight has been disappointing. I don't know if this combination can win especially with this current coach.

The guy has been a very good player for years, just seriously underappreciated by a lot of folks who don't understand the game.

AB for 3! Yes! Instant offense, what a luxury to have this guy as our 8-9 contributer. Could not believe no one else really made him an offer in the offseason and we got him for peanuts.

Aaron had already touched greatness when he suffered the injury..and was never the same. Nevertheless, it's amazing to see him perform at this level for stretches....fantastic scorer off the bench...has quite a bit of that old magic. The thing is he can't play the minutes he used to and can't bounce back and be consistent on back to backs.

He is the same, he has just not had the same opportunity.

Sometimes it is about the situation.

Not officially, but you can't go trading players who took paycuts to contend/stay like Garcia/Brooks if you ever hope for someone else to do it again.

That's why Miami are always so inactive, that whole lineup is full of sweetheart deals.

Aaron Brooks has shown to be pretty capable of also providing instant offense off the bench. Don't think he's trade-able anymore, if that was ever even Morey's plan. No way can we find a player of his offensive talent who is willing to fill the role that ABZ has been asked to do. Needed a few games to show, but the Brooks and Garcia that we expected to see are starting to emerge.

The number of contributing players who are on dirt cheap contracts is staggering.
