Its crazy because they were offering FOUR 1st rounders for Melo (and Billups).

Why are folks saying this is a better deal than the NY deal? The Knicks didn't give up one player as good as Harris. They didn't give up one player with as much potential as Favors. And they only gave up 1 draft pick. Melo is going to extend. D-Will can still walk in 2 years.

What's the Net's cap situation like? Will they be able to be players in 2012 and bring in another star like Howard? If this trade sets them up for that then I say it's a win.

Happy the West gets weaker regardless. Denver done...Utah done...Gay hurt for Memphis...we may just be able to sneak into the playoffs.

Why wouldn't the Jazz ask for AT LEAST the same offer the Nets were giving the Nuggets!?

Unbelievable trade for the Nets... they are going to be a really... really... good team now.

-Bad that the Rockets weren't players in this deal, but good news is they can get better and better in the West. The Jazz get Favors and picks but they lose the most underatted player and most likely best true point in Williams.

(Rose is a better player, but Williams is a true point guard.)

    WOW

Way to go Nets. That's one hell of a 2nd choice consolation prize.

    Good for them.

With seeds 7 and 8 free falling, we have a long shot chance of sneaking into the playoffs! Not that it would help us out in any way long term.

have you seen harris this year? felton is way better than him. what are you talking about?

favors is the only one you scratch your head about, but NJ would be giving him up for any trade involving a star (and that would have included melo if it went down).

deron will make brook lopez better than what harris did. and it looks like NJ ownership is willig to spend spend spend

harris just isn't the PG they were looking for. and deron fits this team more b/c he's a great playmaker

Damn doesn't seem like the rockets can catch a break.. would have loved to get Williams. Don't see anything happen in this trade deadline for us..

Probably because they were unloading Chauncey's contract too in the Carmelo deal. That aspect alone could explain the additional contracts + assets.

Is there any way we can get Al Jefferson, since they already gave up Deron Williams?

knicks will have a tough time getting a 3rd star unless paul is willing to accept way less than max money

Do you think the Knicks gave up more than the Nets did? I don't. The Knicks gave up less and their player won't potentially walk on them.

what a huge hit for Morey reputation

He could offer Brooks + Lowry which is better than Harris

He could bring on the Bad Okur contract using Yao's contract

He could give them Pat, Hill, T-Will, Lee, Bud from as youngsters or trade them for picks

    He could do a lot

    But he didn't

    What a shame...

But maybe Jazz just wouldn't trade him to WCF team, so I dunno
