No doubt he was progressively becoming more and more to blame for the sacks...but that's why his career started going down the toilet, because he was getting mentally ruined, and running from pressure in times where he didnt have to run.
I don't think the draft is that good for ANY position, frankly. We're talking about a DE with a whopping 3 sacks possibly being the #1 overall pick.... So if the entire draft class blows chunks (compared to other drafts), why not take the best QB available? That's my thinking, anyway.
Would rather have Cooper Manning or Tom Brady's sister as the future Texans QB than another Carr. Does Rosencopter have any siblings?
If this is going to work, we have to make things right with the Carr family first. Bring David back in as the backup.
Regardless of whether or not the texans failed Carr, or Carr failed the Texans... That O-line they trotted out from 2002-2005 was one of the worst NFL units ever assembled.
If Ryan Mathews' fear about getting drafted by Houston had anything to do with David Carr, I'm sure something similar will happen with Derek.
The kid may be good (never seen him play), but regardless he's doomed if he becomes a Texan. Kid would never get a fair shot; the fans would be all over him the minute he took his first sack. The kid deserves a real chance; he wouldn't get that in Houston. The Carr legacy is still too formidable.
There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.
