Dekker wasnt hurt by our trainers. This problem came up pre summer league..what was that, like two weeks after the draft?

    Just bad luck.

I don't understand why he didn't have the surgery sooner. It's not like it could be kept a secret if he was to be traded or anything. Now he is going to basically miss all his rookie year. If he had it in July when the team first learned of it, now he would be ready to play (in d-league).
Oh and his trade value is right now almost zero.

[rQUOTEr]Houston Rockets rookie Sam Dekker will have back surgery Friday, multiple sources told ESPN.

Dekker, who was taken with the 18th overall pick in June's NBA draft, had played sparingly so far this season, and one source said Dekker was bothered by the back injury his senior year at Wisconsin.

Dekker is expected to be out approximately three months, one source told ESPN.

Dekker has played just six minutes this season and hasn't played since the second game, a 112-92 loss to Golden State on Oct. 30.

Rehab most likely...They were trying to avoid surgery. I don't blame them..unless it's something really obvious, you don't want to rush a guy to surgery after just drafting him. They needed to evaluate him further themselves..the question is, did Dekker hide this at draft time?

Wonder if the Rockets knew he was injured during his senior year.

How can Warriors turn into iron players without any injury?

I blame them. It took them 4 whole months to realise that Dekker needed the surgery and in the meantime he has been unable to get enough minutes anyway even with all our blowouts and he will miss the whole season.
    Just sucks.

Ofc they did. The scouting process includes all that data and more even asking questions to teammates from high school etc.

    You're not thinking very clearly.

Rehab takes time. It didn't take them 4 months to figure out he needed it..it was 4 months to rule out rehab would work. Thats a reasonable amount of time, especially if he started.to feel better, which I'm guessing he did, since he got cleared.

If it happened late in the tourney or post, then it's very possible no one knew, but he and his doctor. It would be career suicide for him to tell anyone and risk a leak, maybe just mom, dad, siblings..
