Does anyone know anything about this guy? What position does he play? Why didn't he want to come to the Rockets? Apparently we had some interest in him. I got this from **************.

    Dejan Bodiroga, Yugoslavia - 12.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.7 apg, 54.5 FG%

The MVP of the final. Scored nine consecutive points in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter and gave Yugoslavia life back. He's been doing this kind of things for about a decade in Europe. You can hardly stop him one-on-one. He could have signed with the Houston Rockets or the Toronto Raptors this summer, but once again decided to stay overseas.

because he's already wealthy and a star outside of the USA. at ~28 years old, what is his incentive to come here? you could say "competition", but this WC just proved that the desparity in "competition" across the globe is not as large as previously believed.

oh, and he's 6'9" and plays sort of a point forward.

The guy who wrote that is an idiot. Bodiroga's draft rights are owned by the Sacramento Kings, so how could he be available to the Rockets or Toronto? They drafted him in 1995, and he has never become available to the NBA, due to contracts, so the Kings retain his draft rights in that circumstance forever.

btw: I wouldn't be surprised if he is the highest paid player in Europe and has a huge buyout price. He also just signed a new 3 yr. Forget about Dejan. He will never play in the NBA.

Bodiroga has been a star in Europe for years. In his career he has earned MVPs in Euro league and Euro championships. He is 29 years old and probably will never try to come into the NBA. I believe he'll be playing for Barcelona next year.

Sorry to disapoint u but Dejan is 30 or so and i don't think he want's to come to the NBA(read it in the papers).
Plus i think there was some story about him having the opportunity to play for an Nba team but he declined it.

Hey, if I were a player European ball looks a whole lot more fun than NBA-style basketball. Sounds like the pay is not too bad either.

I'd rather have Luca Brasi. Talk about an intimidator!

And isn't there another thread like this in International Hoops?
