So Unfortunate that the league is struggling with talented Centers in the game today. I just wanted to get a discussion/debate going on who is the best among the "ocean" of talent. I also would like to get opinions on who are some promising/upcoming centers who could eventually become top centers in the league.

    My top 5 centers today:
1.Dwight Howard (I hate myself for putting him here as I feel he is a pf/c)
    2. Andrew Bynum
    3. Joakim Noah
    4. Roy Hibbert
    5. Andrew Bogut

HM: Gortat, Tyson Chandler, Nene (when healthy), Brook Lopez (when healthy), Horford (also a pf/c)

Upcoming Centers: Demarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Deandre Jordan, Javale McGee, Omer Asik

I am sure not everyone will agree with my rankings, but I would love to explain my reasons if needed.

I look forward to hearing everyone's opinions!!!:)

All these rule changes in the league have really limited big men's role in the game. If Yao played during 1980's 1990's, he would have averaged 35 ppg and 20 rpg.

    Dwight
    Bynum
    Hibert
    Bogut

Centers suck these days....if you count Duncan as a Center, its probably:

    1. Dwight
    2. Duncan
    3. Chandler
    4. Bynum
    5. the rest

Yao was really the last of the great centers. Dwight is great defensively but isn't very good offensively. Bynum is an idiot. Bogut is probably closest.

Probably overall. Prime Yao would still dominate him. :p

Dwight's effectiveness in the post is hilariously underrated.

Yao is a terrible matchup for him. Would have been nice to see them both in their primes.

If JVG-era Yao was still in the league today :)(...), i'd insert him below Duncan and above Chandler on this list.

What is a prime yao? I'd say he was in his prime in that playoffs when we got out of the first round. That yao would destroy dwight all day every day. I would take that yao on my team over dwight anyday. You can't even finish a game with dwight because he can't hit fts.

His dominance against normally sized or undersized Cs is well documented.

however the knock on him.... If he could develop a constant jumper, he could space the floor, or develop better hook shots, a better fundamental post game...Howard could be much better

Yao could shoot over him on any given day

In what way? He was better on D but not that much better. Yao was miles ahead of dhow on offense.

Dwight vs Yao debates: Almost as good as the LeBron/Jordan/Kobe, Kobe/Jordan, & LeBron/Jordan debates!
